Good location, between Ocean Drive - the party street and Collins Avenue. The ocean is across the road, sunbeds are free. You only pay $20 per umbrella.Great service and friendly staff.Delicious cocktails, a soft sun lounger, good music and a cozy atmosphere, because there are a lot of plants around the pool.

Axel Beach Hotel is only one block from the beach and 2 minutes away from any type of restaurant you'd like to eat at. The staff is extremely welcoming, and the rooms are incredible. Aside from all this, the rooms are an amazing price compared to their extremely close location to Miami Beach. They also provide free plush beach towels and lemon water, which honestly was a lifesaver. Each room includes two beach chairs that are already located on the beach for guests.

We chose this hotel as it was for LGBT and a great south beach location. We loved the art deco building, our twin double bed room was super spacious and we were happy with that. However, the whole properly interior is a bit dated- seems to have been taken over from the previous hotel, the lobby is the most plain we have ever seen, the pool area thought used the most are really old and dated. We ate out all the time was breakfast was not included- the only restaurant looked empty most of the time.I think the hotel interiors lets it down- LGBT community often has good taste and I think the hotel could really renovate and improve on the interiors.Would I stay again? Probably not. The nearby Esme Beach hotel is a much better option

One star for the horrible customer service and terrible attitude by front desk staff member, Roxana. He was extremely rude during the stay and after the stay. Beware of additional surprise fees at check in. The location is great, the rooms are a bit outdated and the AC in my room wasn't working properly. All of that was fine for me but the lack of customer service is what leaves a lasting impression. Their attitude was definitely the worst part of it all. The front desk likes to argue with you rather than be empathetic and compassionate towards guests who are dropping money to stay at this hotel when there's tons of other hotel and Airbnb options in the area. Save your money if you want a pleasant experience.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER !!! Always check your smoke detector at the hotel! So me and my friend stayed at the Axel beach hotel for two nights on 2/23/2024 & 2/24/2024.I personally booked the reservation on Booking for two beds .When my friend arrived (she arrived earlier than me) , the front desk told her that we can « upgrade » our room for $30 per night which she said yes . So she paid $60 for the two nights .I arrived and it seems that the room is the same room as the one I reserved online , the front desk assured us that this is « premium » , anyway we moved on from this .Friday night 2/23, we went out and came back to the hotel by noon. We realized that a blue light from the smoke detector is flashing , flashing strongly. The light was so strong and intense that nobody could fall asleep with. We do not know what’s going on so we called the lobby. The person said that it’s late so the maintenance guy is not here to check but he will come by in the morning. In the meantime, we asked our friends and look online and it’s seems that a blue flash light from a smoke detector can be related to carbon monoxide. We got scared (it was 1 am) and called the lobby again. The person decided to change the room only to sleep the night and gave us a tiny room with one bed . Anyway it was just for that night and we were waiting for the morning so our actual room can be finally checked . In the morning, we are going to our room, nothing changed. We are going back to the front desk and the person was different from the night , he was not aware of anything ! So he told us “do not worry I see what I can do”. The blue flash light still on , we opened our windows just in case . We went out trying to enjoy our day in Miami , came back to the hotel in the afternoon still nothing. We got frustrated and we tried to explain to the front desk that we cannot sleep in that room as we do not know what’s going on and that could be dangerous. The same person from that day on Saturday 2/24 answered to us “well, at least you would die happy” what a funny joke !! We finally talked to a third person he asked the maintenance to check. The smoke detector was not working properly, they replaced it … first, we never got reimbursed the $30 for that Friday night , as we slept in a tiny room and not in a “premium” room. Second , I personally had a conversation with the manager Efrain Castro that was very understanding on the phone but did not do anything for us . We are very disappointed by the way the people of this hotel treated us , we spent a lot of money for those two nights and we were frustrated, scared and not being heard is the worst. Please do not waste your time by going there and please always check your smoke detector in the hotel you are staying. At the end of the day, our safety matters .

First the good - the hotel is located in a prime location and looks beautiful from the outside. Now for the bad. The pool area was in need of pressure washing, the pool itself was kind of dirty. The water level in the pool was too low and did not appear to have been cleaned in a while. The room was disappointing. We could hear the neighbors above us tap dancing when they came back from the clubs at 4am. Worst of all, the AC was broken and we roasted all night long. The windows could not be opened and we were miserable. Also, the door to our room was messed up and somehow random people were able to open the room one morning while we were sleeping. We reported both issues to the front desk and they said they couldn't move us because the hotel was full and the AC was broken in many rooms (widespread issue). And one small additional issue was that the clock and phone screens were very bright so we had to disconnect both when we went to sleep each night. We really wanted to like this place and we're not picky people but the broken AC was just too much. For the money we spent it was not worth it.

Take me back! Axel beach you have my heart. We loved everything- the art deco buildings, the beautiful grounds, the pool, the friendly staff, the beach loungers on South beach- but the location really sealed the deal. Shopping, restaurants, Ocean Blvd, all steps away. This is an adult only, hetero-friendly hotel with great amenities and honestly the only place I will stay in Miami now.

Just visited that hotel last week. The building is very nice inside and outside . Swimming pool is a big plus it’s nice and clean . But hotel room didn’t have enough surfaces and hooks in the bathroom for towels women lingerie, also shelves for cosmetics. Everything else was excellent. The stuff on front desk is very friendly and nice .

Despite the location is great, it was almost impossible to sleep due to that you can hear voices, music, steps from all the rooms around, above and under, until very late in the night. The building is old. Nice swimming pool and steam room. I don't think I will stay here again.

I was so impressed with this hotel. Everybody I met was so pleasant and friendly. The rooms were immaculate. The entire hotel was spotless. There was always somebody cleaning , sweeping . Every person who worked the front desk didn’t matter what time of day it was was so friendly. Location is perfect. I would definitely absolutely 100% stay there again. Thank you to the entire staff. One week after writing this review I have to add something negative. Be careful leaving a deposit. You will not get it back. For one week the hotel told me I’ll see it within 48 hours. Was told that by everyone who answered the phone the multiple times I called the hotel. Called the hotel from the bank today and the lady from the bank was told by Jose it’s a hotel fee and will not get it back. I’m pissed!! Nice hotel but they will take your money. Not happy at all!!!!

Great stay at Axel beach. The location was perfect, 1 block to the beach and loads of restaurants. The service was very efficient and friendly (Mercy and Gene). The room was small but clean. The water pressure and hot water was perfect. I would have liked a shelf in the bathroom for toiletries. There was some noise from other rooms/hallway but not too bad. The pool, hot tub area were great for relaxing, as well as the front patio. We didn't have time to use the beach loungers. I would recommend and return.

I have stayed here for work two years in a row now and I had vastly different experiences each time. The first time we stayed here (8+ nights), we very much enjoyed our stay. The rooms are nice for Miami Beach, breakfast was extensive and tasty, staff was nice, amenities were good enough. The area was (and is) perfect for our work trip and since we had such a pleasant experience the first time, we decided to stay again. Poor choice. I don’t know if they changed management or something, but our stay this year was lackluster. I feel like our room was a little smaller this time around, but that was no big deal. We paid for the breakfast again, but this year they told us that the only breakfast included was the “continental breakfast” which included scrambled eggs, croissants and bread. That’s it! We expressed that we had been there the year prior and have stayed with them for 8+ nights each time and they offered no solution. I would have expected a little better service since we are returning, long-term guests. I never caught her name, but the manager that was there for the breakfast was not accommodative and not that friendly. Everyone else at the hotel was exceptionally nice, as always (shoutout to Terrence!). Another issue we had was the room cleaning. We had some old cups and plates in the room for a few days, so I had asked the front desk if we had to bring those dishes down or if housekeeping was supposed to clean that up for us. They told me housekeeping should be cleaning that up and they made a note of it. I came home that evening and the dishes were still there. They also didn’t sweep our room once. They would just come in, make the beds and leave fresh towels; no cleaning. There were other small things (like the hot tub being out of order for our whole 8 day stay) and I feel like some of these things could be considered nit picky, but the comparison from one year to another was so astronomical that I felt like it should be known that the hotel has lost an annual customer. A year ago, I would have recommended this hotel with five stars, but this year I would not recommend at all.

My partner and I fully enjoyed our experience at the Axel hotel. The staff (Marlon and Martin) were extremely friendly and made the experience even better. The room was quite spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The pool was really nice, and the location is close to everything! The building is on the older side but not terrible. We were a bit disappointed with the Continental Breakfast as food options were rather limited.Overall would stay again!

The location is great, services are also good. But there is a deposit to pay at the hotel (it would be good if they precise the amount when booking) even it is refunded 1 to 3 days after the check out.The room is OK but the interior needs to be more modernised, especially for the price, also you can hear the noises in the corridor. The breakfast is great though and the art deco. I did not swim as the pool seems not very well maintained / clean but it's OK. The hotel is very well located, just few min away from Espanola way, Lincoln road, Washington avenue.

Regrettably, my experience with this hotel was extremely poor. I had prepaid for a room for three nights, but upon arriving, I was denied entry on the first night due to a delayed flight. Despite the delay being entirely outside of my control, the staff informed me this was their policy. I was left very frustrated and feeling cheated out of my money. When I returned the following day, I was shocked to be told that the hotel would not take any responsibility for the missed night and would not offer me a refund or arrange for a rescheduled stay. Instead, they recommended that I book through a different website, which I found to be incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable.Throughout my dealings with the hotel staff, I found them to be unhelpful and even downright rude at times. The manager was especially uncooperative, and seemed to have little regard for customer service.Given this experience, I strongly caution against booking with this hotel. It's very disappointing to have paid for a service and received such poor treatment, particularly when the hotel was empty and there seemed to be no good reason for their

Excellent location. It's very close to South Beach, and the swimming pool in the hotel was lovely. The staff were all friendly, and we had a nice two-night stay. But we only got half of the $100 deposit back. I don't know why. Do you tell the hotel the details? We never drank anything in the fridge or had breakfast.

Yes, we heard about the breakfast which was not good, I had issues with the cleaning staff knowing at my door and speaking Spanish to me, which I don’t understand. I was not getting any coffee and coffee cups regularly and had to go and ask for a cup so I can make coffee in the morning. And had to buy my own shower gel because I sis not get a new one or soap once I finishes the one in the room. The swimming pool is not the best swimming pool I have seen. If you are going to Miami to tan , go to the beach or somewhere else. Otherwise it was amazing.

I’m a single just turned 64 years old straight woman in a predominantly gay male hotel and the service given to me was stellar. The all inclusiveness was what I really liked. They have chair lifts in both the pool and hot tub for special needs people. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 I also appreciated the no kids. Lol

Stayed at Axel between 11/22-11/25 with my partner. Had an excellent check in experience with the reception staff and they were accommodating when we asked for a chair for the room. The facilities and space lack maintenance but do have an old charm to them. Gym was super small so didn’t use it. Service for breakfast and pool bar was poor. Servers were not organized. There weren’t many options for breakfast. Overall okay experience but for the price would expect more.

This is just a place you want to stay! No matter if you are LGBT+ (as I am) or not you will be welcomed so warmly. The staff is so friendly and nice. Do not hesitate and book this place. It has everything you need and it is in the middle of everything you need around. I have thank especially to lovely Alex, friendly Danny and funny Allen for making my stay awesome. But also the others deserve an aplause for the service they provide.

Our first stay at an Axel hotel and it was disappointing. The staff were very nice, except for the woman at breakfast who should take a charm course. The guys at the reception were super nice and did their best for us.But it is not possible to book three people in one room, the guys on the beach explain that. We tried to get three sunbeds, but we didn't get them. Because the hotel only has two sunbeds per room. The guy at the reception tried several times, but the people on the beach said no. So we had to pay $15 extra for a bed per day, something that would have been included in the room. The rooms were okay, but should be updated by 2023, the toilet was so small. Couldn't find anywhere to put his toiletry bag or toothbrush, had to put them in the window. But the worst was the pool area, they were actually filthy. I don't think even the treatment plant was running on the pool, it was dirty and you could see that there was a lot of water missing. Brown dirty stripes on the tile. The furniture around the pool would also need to be refreshed.

Absolutely loved the place!!!! The rooms were spacious and really great, the staff (Marlon & Martin I Believe?) were very very helpful and nice to us. The room is just a short walk from the beach and they provide you w beach chairs. One of the highlights for us was definitely the pool, it's big and almost always empty so we had a blast there. The breakfast is simple, but it's free so we're not complaining. Overall 100/100, highly recommended for all visiting South beach.

This place is amazing and worth every dollar you spent on it. The rooms are spacious and clean. I’m staying 3d time here for the last year and trust me I know what I’m talking about. This time they started giving breakfasts (it’s pretty simple though, but all that you need to start your day). The staff is very friendly and receptive and always here for you to assist. The location is perfect as it’s close to the best restaurants and clubs at South beach.

This is actually part 2 of 2 reviews - scroll down for the first week.Just spent another 5 days at Axel Beach - definitely did not get enough of Miami Beach the first trip and rebooked immediately. More shout outs to staff members - Marlon, who had been the friendliest bellman I can remember, is now at the front desk - he will be great there. Danny the bartender who remembered my name and what I drank 2 weeks prior (not sure if that's a good thing or not.....) and to Martin, who engages with everyone as customer service rep. Extraordinary staff overall.Just returned from 3 nights at Axel Beach Hotel. First time there - LOVED this place - it's got loads of places to relax including the pool (very large for South Beach standards), spa, gym and steam room. Super quiet right after Labor Day, but got great service from literally everyone on the staff - shout out to front desk, housekeeping, food service, bartenders, entertainers and security. Fantastic location - convenient to reasonable $$ self parking and a block to the beach. Sunrise was phenomenal. Already making plans to return soon. Thanks to everyone - see you again!

The owners have worked hard to create a great atmosphere and a lovely experience. Everyone was super-friendly! The rooms, however, need a makeover. The classic art deco building is from the 1940s and upgrades over the years have been limited (or so it appears). While the linens and towels were all very clean, the whole hotel could use a fresh coat of paint. The fixtures in the bathroom are dated and frayed (not quaint and rustic). That said, the staff was quick to address any issue we had (of course, they could not clean the walls/scuffs or paint them). The continental breakfast is essentially just scrambled eggs, mini croissants and bread slices with butter and jam. You could order/pay for extras, but that didn't seem to be a popular option. Parking is super expensive (that's a Miami Beach-wide issue!).A nice touch are the free beach chairs (but $20 extra for the umbrella), and the giant swimming pool (albeit "worn"). The hotel supplies towels for outdoor use. We'll go back, hoping they continue to upgrade the building's infrastructure beyond the lobby and public areas. At the end of the day, it's mostly small things. And frankly, most of the boutique hotels in the area suffer from far worse infrastructure and building issues, with far fewer amenities at higher prices.

Brianna was so awesome at check in. So sweet, so accommodating. I somehow accidentally booked 2 reservations & she called a few days before my trip to confirm that I only needed one, canceled the extra room for me, and had the room ready for me when I arrived. Had to check in last minute due to another hotel being EXTREMELY un-accommodating for reason Axel were! Immediately walking into the establishment the door was opened for us with a welcoming smile and a warm greeting! Brianna at the front desk was ABSOLUTELY phenomenal with taking care of me and my guest. She treated us like complete family and remained professional while sharing a couple of fantastic laughs with each other! Tyler from PR also came out and greeted us and made sure that we were satisfied with everything thus far! The rooms are VERY Miami Beach and super cozy with central Air Conditioning!!! Axel South Beach has gained a loyal customer from now on! Thank you Brianna!!

It was an incredible vacation. Everything was at the highest level. Very tasty breakfasts, every day you could choose something different. Attentive waiters who tried to do everything possible for your comfort. The room was cleaned every day. It is 2 minutes to the beach and this is the biggest plus, there are many restaurants nearby, although the food was very tasty in the hotel itself, we had dinner several times. But there are also disadvantages...You cannot control the temperature in the room by yourself, you have to constantly ask the administrator. During dinner, we ordered juice, it cost $5, we ordered because we thought they would pour us more, but the waiter rudely refused us. I was a little confused, because I myself work as a waitress and we always add drinks (coffee or juice) to guests. And paying $5 for a small glass of juice is too expensive for me. Although in other restaurants in Miami they add..

I traveled to Miami with some friends to celebrate a birthday and we chose the Axel hotel in Miami. We were greeted by BRIANA THE BODY of MIAMI at the front desk. Briana is not only super friendly, but efficient and made our stay so enjoyable. We loved the location because it was close to everything that we wanted to do. The Beach, restaurants, and nightlight are a quick stone’s throw away. The rooms were cozy and cool with a great view overlooking the pool. The pool is always fun and the crowd is super welcoming and friendly. The hotel is kept clean and I would totally return! I hope your review helps you!

Debyn was a great host! Her communication and customer service is absolutely amazing! I would recommend this hotel to anyone simply because of her, however, the location is beautiful, pool is beautiful and it’s in the heart of South Beach. The room we had was clean and nice, except for the fact that the TV had some problems working. The (refundable) deposit fee was ridiculously high, the refund progress was very slow, and we had to call the hotel to get our money back. We also paid for the resort fee even though we didn’t get to enjoy most of the stuff that was available since we only stayed for a day and were out the whole day. Lastly, it was really upsetting that they charged our card for drinks that me and my panther didn’t buy, and the front desk lady didn't help much.

Back at the Axel! Best kept secret in South Beach. Great drinks and staff. The rooms are a little dated but the property is historic so there is only so much that they can do. Shout out to Mario and Patrick at the pool bar. They are great every time. We will be back again soon! Xoxo, Axel!

Very nice establishment. Was valued as a customer. Brianna was amazing. Very attentive to customers needs. At the bar Mario was an excellent bartender with a great personality. Juan Martin whenever I needed him he was right there being helpful. I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable getaway with class.

The Axel Beach hotel is an ideally located and extremely comfortable hotel staffed by some of the friendliest people around. Rodrigo was particularly pleasant, taking a genuine interest in us while chatting about South Beach and providing helpful advice. Also, thanks to Brianna for watching over the gift we left at the front desk. The hotel has loads going on, especially in the evenings but I am pleased to say that the rooms feature excellent sound proofing and AC so you don't have to worry about being kept up by the noise or the heat. The pool acts as a social hub and if you're looking to make friends it's easy to strike up a conversation while enjoying a cocktail and drifting around on one of the pool floats.Thank you everyone, we will be sure to return!

We were quite disappointed by the quality of our stay. I’ve stayed at other Axel hotels and this was not as enjoyable. The sauna was not working, the jets in the hot tub did not work (broken/missing knob), and the gym was not well equipped but we still had to pay the full “resort fee”. The room itself was not very clean. The shower had mold throughout and caulking coming off all over. They also have full control over your thermostat!!! We had to ask multiple times for them to allow our AC to go lower because it was hot in our rooms. I’m not sure they ever did this because it remained very warm most of the trip. Our last night there it was hard to sleep because our room was 80 degrees. The maintenance guy came in the “fix it” and left saying they would have to adjust it on their controls???? As a customer, we should have more control over our room temperature. Outside of those complaints, the staff were friendly and the location was perfect for us! We were walking distance to most things we wanted to do. I’m not sure I would stay here again though.

Great location in a great historic property. Loved the gay vibes! Will always want to stay in an overtly queer friendly place. The pool was so fun! The staff was all so nice EXCEPT the front desk staff - the folks you expect to be nicest. My assumption is that they've had issues with check in because they immediately seemed annoyed that we were even there. Thankfully everyone else made up for it, but it was certainly an odd way to start the experience. Room and amenities were exactly as advertised.

I really enjoyed my stay here! I was there for a whole week for work and it was just the best place to come back to. Super clean, really nice people, adorable vintage aesthetic, gorgeous pool area, well located. Miami hotels can be pretty grungy but this one was great! Definitely coming back next year.

Check-in was fast, but the original room we were in was way to close to the party area. Staff was so kind and accommodating when we asked for a more quiet room. Love the staff, and all their kindness. Definitely did not know the LGBT factor until we checked in, but pleased with the room, staff and stay. Thank you to the staff for the best first-time experience in Miami Beach!

Excellent location! Close tở literally everything ;Bars, restaurants, shopping & the beach. this is my second stay here and i already knew that I’m gonna have a great stay. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Plus they have the greatest staff! Very friendly and accommodating! Also Especial thanks to Ahmad who welcomed me.I came to the hotel very early and i knew that check in time is at 4pm, i only came to drop off my bags so i can walk around freely without carrying them. But Ahmad checked me ỉn right away after checking if there will be available room at that time. (10am)It has been my tradition to go back to Miami at least once a year and i know this hotel will be my go to place! 💯

Had an amazing stay in Axel, really close to Ocean Drive and beach. Facilities in the hotel were great. Clayton was great when checking us in and let us check in a bit earlier. John made sure that we were comfortable by changing our room when the AC in our original broke down and was always ready to assist us with anything. The hotel made the whole trip great overall.

I came to Miami for a few days for marathon training. I just needed a place to sleep at night. When I picked the hotel I picked it on price. I didn't realize it was a LGBT hotel till a few days before arriving . I thought I would in for a shock when arriving seeing i was a straight guy. When I arrived I just feel in love with the staff. Very friendly. I got my room a little earlier then check it. So that was a bonus. The room was on the smaller side but it was just me. The room was very clean. Then I went to the pool thinking this will be interesting. But I was wrong. Everyone was there was super friendly. The location was great for what I needed. Very close to the board was. So I could run.i would highly recommend this for anyone. What a amazing experience I had

We booked from looking at photos so wasn’t sure what to expect when we got there! Well to our absolute pleasure everyone was so pleasant and welcoming! Ahmad the front desk supervisor was ah-mazing! Literally from sense of humor, professionalism and demeanor just all around wonderful! Every staff member that we came into contact with was pleasant! The hotel is meticulously clean and inviting! Loved it here! Also, I must say the amenities are awesome! They even have a nice “protection” gift in the room for people that should need it! Just amazing! Will definitely return 🥰

Super friendly staff! Specially Franco always greeted us every time we walked around the lobby and pool. Any questions we needed answered they were very accommodating! Pool did have leaves but come on we’re under trees, it’s a given. Plus they kept trying to clean it but it was truly pointless but nice to know they still tried! Highly recommend this cozy hotel!

I was a guest on July 2/July 4th-2022. I met exceptional staff that works together as a team. Each of them (Julie, Ahmed, Javier, Franco and John) are impressive; they articulate and gave positive energy with clear options for our stay. They were all professional, kind and very courteous. I will be back to stay and I look forward to seeing them all again. Thank you for sharing the staff and please, please give them a “Big Kudos” and tell them to keep up the good work. I pray for safety and protection for them all. Be blessed with peace and blessings Please tell Marvin (guy for parking) we thank him too!

This hotel has gone above and beyond with everything, each staff member you come in contact with smiles and asks if you need anything, Ahmed, John, Franco, the man in the dark blue shirt at the desk and Daniel in the restaurant… I will definitely return and let others know… should be more than 5 stars on service… whoever is doing the hiring is doing it the correct way…

My two nights here were comfortable and enjoyable. The room was clean and a decent size considering it’s an Art Deco building. John at reception was extremely helpful and friendly. The type of guy you could have a chat with. I loved the gym, compared to other hotels I was impressed. All machines and equipment you need for a decent workout. The pool was nice. I would recommend.

The stay was super good. The room was amazing, and really big. The air conditioning was really nice and good quality. The people from the hotel was really nice with us. The pool area is so comfortable and amazing for the heat. Victor received us and he was so nice, he gave us details and recommendations for Miami. The only bad thing was that the fire alarm sounded one night at 3am and the noice was horrible, but the people from the hotel got to our room and fixed it.

I typically only leave positive reviews and deal with occasional issues directly with establishments but Axel Miami Beach has been unresponsive and unhelpful after I was “mysteriously” overcharged an additional ~$100 after a recent stay. No one seems to know why, or want to speak to me about it, and yet the charge was attributed to the hotel. I stayed here because I wanted to support one of the remaining LGBTQ+ businesses in Miami Beach, and the lobby, location and vibe are great. The junior staff were lovely and we got an early check in. Hence the two stars. Unfortunately the hotel’s various floors and rooms are not in good condition, and the air conditioning is so loud it’s like construction noise at night. We asked for a new room the next day and were accommodated but it was a downgrade in size. Certainly not what we paid for! When we came back to freshen up, we realized the room wasn’t clean and the pillow shams were covered in make up. Management / reception couldn’t be less interested in (a) the fact that we couldn’t sleep; (b) making sure you get the room type you paid for; (c) offering anything when you get downgraded, which left a damper on special trip. Not the usual quality and service from Axel. Luckily, the rest of Miami Beach made up for it!

Staff was extremely welcome and made us feel safe. The rooms are musky smelling due to the fact that the bathroom does not have any ventilation. No working fan over time has created mold in the tiles around the whole bathroom…. Beds were more soft than hard, which wasn’t our cup of tea. Otherwise, the pool area is great and gym (although small) has everything you need.

We enjoy historic places that keep the original charm while providing modern conveniences. If you this is your passion, this is a great oasis to stay. The staff is very helpful and attentive to our questions and support. If you want fake perfection, then go to the over-priced hotels. This is for peace and serenity. The grounds have trees around the pool. It is pleasantly organic organic to see some leaves fall and remind yourself the pleasantness of nature. The rooms are well appointed with the original hardwood floors. I love the way they look and bring a natural feeling to the rooms. Drinks at the bar are reasonably priced. My wife and I were warmly accepted by the other gracious guests. We enjoyed sharing conversations and laughter with with down-to-earth happy people.Come here if you want to be close to all of the restaurants, party scene and beach. Everything is located well within a simple stroll. Don’t be in a hurry. Come here to relax and be stress free.

Beautiful hotel in the most perfect location. One block away from the beach and in the heart of South beach. My stay wouldn’t have been this enjoyable if it wasn’t for the receptionist John. An absolute sweetheart and so professional. I will definitely be staying here again in the future. Thanks John for your hospitality. Love, your Aries sister 🙂

From the moment we arrived the staff was very friendly, attentive and personable. I was staying at the Loews Hotel across the street but would certainly not stay there next time we are in Miami. The Loews is beautiful, but you are just another guest and is SUPER CROWDED with too many children. I love children, but I'm in Miami to have fun with adults. The Axel Hotel made us feel like family. They also have this really cool pool party on Sundays and is included for guests. Walking distance from Ocean drive, the beach, and tons of shopping and restaurants. Very clean and well maintained amenities. LGBTQ+ friendly and approved! 😎 Will stay here next time for sure!

Fantastic location but that's about it. Waited an hour to check in behind three people; not because they were difficult but the check in process literally took 20 minutes per guest and there was only one host. No hairdryer in the room, room was tiny and had the style of a motel along the freeway. Tons of drinks and snacks in the room and no price menu. Location & friendly staff get it two stars.

I’ve stayed here twice and both times I really enjoyed my stay. The pool is refreshing and a great place to meet other guests, the hot tub was hot and so were the men. My first trip I booked a room with a balcony overlooking the pool, the room was very large, and the shower had plenty of room for 2 or more people to use. I was pleasantly surprised to find a circuit type party happening at the pool, the balcony provided a great place to watch the party before going to join. Second time I stayed I booked a single bed room and it was just as lovely, it over looked a walkway and into a neighboring room across the airspace. I chose to leave my curtains open and was excited to provide a little entertainment for the other guests. Gym has everything you need for a workout while on vacation, the steam room is a nice amenity but it was always empty. The little shop for speedos and swim truck was convenient and had a good selection. Located in a perfect spot in south beach and only two block from the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great location close to everything in the area. The rooms are typical South Beach hotel rooms. Cute but nothing great. Very nice pool area but very shady so don’t except a tan. Go to the beach for that. Front desk staff is nice and helpful. This place gets two starts because the restaurant service is abysmal. First they were super slow to even acknowledge our presence. Once seated it was about 20 minutes before anyone came to ask for our food order. While waiting for someone to take our order, it started to rain. We were then informed that while it was raining they wouldn’t serve the food. The entire rest of the day was supposed to rain so why even bother taking our order.

My partner and I have stayed here 4 times since they opened, and we just adore the staff. Everyone is so helpful and welcoming. Juli at the front desk even recognized us as returning guests, which always makes you feel special! We will be returning soon to see the whole crew and have another great weekend in MIA. Don't forget to enjoy all the great drinks from Lucas, Michael, Victor, and all the other great bartenders!
