Tucked away in Blayds Yard, just off Lower Briggate in Leeds, Blayds Bar has been a cornerstone of the city's LGBTQ+ scene for over three decades. This intimate venue offers a welcoming atmosphere with a variety of nightly events, including quizzes, karaoke, and club nights. A daily happy hour runs from 5 pm to 9 pm, providing affordable drink options for patrons.
The bar features a compact dance floor and an outdoor courtyard, creating a cozy yet lively environment. While the beer selection is limited, the focus is on spirits, with vodka even available on tap. Blayds Bar has recently secured a new premises license, ensuring its continued operation despite challenges in the local licensing landscape.
Blayds is a friendly, safe place to drink and dance in Leeds for EVERYONE . I've always felt welcome and have loved going there since back in the day. Love the owner and the staff keep up the good work guys see you for Pride woohoo!
What a fantastic place ! We attended my daughter in laws birthday party. The place is great and all the staff were so friendly. The bar prices were cheap the Drag artists were amazing. Every one in the bar was friendly and we meet some beautiful people we will definitely be going back lots of fun great relaxed atmosphere.
Really great hidden gem, tucked away from the main street. The atmosphere is fun but not too crazy, the music lively and the staff and queens providing drinks and music, an absolute hoot. Very happy here.
Attended a close friends 60th birthday last weekend, but was very disappointed to learn that cash payments are no longer taken at Blayds. As far as I'm aware this applies to the downstairs bar as well, (I was upstairs in the hired room.) So after one drink I had to leave, (thank you Ian for subbing me a drink.) I'd been looking forward to this night for a while as I hadn't seen the birthday boy for ages. But on the whole, still a lovely, friendly, fun and inclusive bar. Just wish they still took cash payments. As I would never take my debit or credit card out to pay for drinks on a night out.
Myself and my husband came to this bar on Sunday 15 th sept 2024 we had travelled from Newcastle as our daughter starting uni in Leeds my accomodation was at the Travelodge which was at the end of the street where pub was what was ideal all I have to say is wow what a great little pub staff friendly the other drinkers were friendly but most of all dunan who owns it he is the most loveliest human I have ever met I will definitely will be returning to this pub when I next come visit my daughter 🥰🥰
A great little bar, small but fantastic fun. Not full of straight hen parties like most places. Great music, good volume. They host the pups event upstairs once a month which is a really fun night if that's your thing. Only slight grumble is a lack of real ale. Just one, that's all I ask. Newcastle Brown is about the nearest but there's only so much of that you can drink!
It’s half eleven at night and the ladies loos have been cleaned and refilled . You just don’t get that in places these days.Clean mega busy bar with premium drinks , I am impressed
At last a gay venue where we haven't been turned away from at the door. And how fortunate have we been because what fab music and atmosphere. Thank you for a great night. We will be back when in Leeds again.
Terrible, avoid! Visited Friday night around 9.30 pm. There weren't many customers but because the place is so tiny it still felt cramped. There is only...
