About
Centralhjørnet in Copenhagen is an absolute gem and a must-visit for anyone exploring the LGBTQ+ scene in the city. As one of the oldest gay bars in Europe, it first opened its doors back in 1917, and while it officially became a gay venue in the 1950s, it’s been a pillar of the community ever since. Nestled right in the heart of the city, Centralhjørnet serves up a welcoming vibe with its eclectic mix of patrons, where both locals and tourists come together to enjoy its famously cosy atmosphere.
What’s particularly cool about Centralhjørnet is the entertainment — we’re talking regular drag shows, live jazz sessions, and themed parties, especially during the winter season (October to April). Sundays are especially popular for chill live music. The bar is also renowned for its fun holiday decor, especially at Christmas, where it goes all out, bringing a touch of festivity to the Danish capital. If you're feeling peckish, you can even grab a traditional Danish open-faced sandwich from the place next door and bring it back to the bar!
Whether you're there for a casual beer or looking for a lively night out, Centralhjørnet is an essential part of Copenhagen's LGBTQ+ history and still thriving today.
This cozy little bar is bursting with festive spirit, and the staff is among the friendliest, and most welcoming I've ever seen. Shoutout to Anders for being an absolute superstar.
A fun gay bar! Very small inside and cramped even if you have a table but it was great chance to speak with the locals who were all so friendly and welcoming. Staff were super friendly and service was great! Great selection of drinks too they have something for everyone!
We went to check out this bar in our last night in Copenhagen and it was VERY popular. The bar was packed the entire time we were there and there was barely a seat available. The bar was filled with a mix of locals and tourists visiting. There was also a large group of office workers who had just got off for the day and were out for a drink. This bar is VERY popular because you can still smoke inside. This was not my favorite part because when there were a lot of people smoking together it became very heavy inside. But other then that, we had a great time and everyone we met was very welcoming and friendly.
Genuine Danish place! Apparently, the oldest Gay bar in Copenhagen was founded in 1917. Buy sandwiches around the corner and bring them here for eating. You buy your drinks here and they will supply plates and cutlery. Smoking is allowed here, which we, non-Danish are unused to these days.
