About
Masken Bar is a legendary fixture in Copenhagen's LGBTQ+ scene, located right in the heart of the city’s Latin Quarter on Studiestræde. As one of Denmark’s oldest gay bars, it’s a local favorite for queer folks of all ages looking for a relaxed, welcoming vibe. Open seven days a week, Masken is the perfect place to grab a drink, whether it’s a cozy beer in the afternoon or something stronger during the late-night crowd rush. The bar is busiest after midnight, especially on Fridays and Saturdays, when it draws a fun mix of regulars and visitors alike.
With its two-story layout, cheap drinks, and friendly staff, Masken offers something for everyone. You’ll find regulars chatting at the bar, lively conversations happening all around, and even the occasional impromptu dance party—despite the lack of a dance floor! The bar also hosts fun events like drag shows, Eurovision screenings, and even Pride street parties.
Whether you’re there for the laid-back atmosphere, to meet new people, or to enjoy their signature community spirit, Masken Bar remains a must-visit spot in Copenhagen’s ""gaybourhood"".
Sad little bar, with 2 tiny floor space. One little bar area. People smoke inside and it has poor ventilation. My eyes water and my throat burns from being inside. It is also taken over by straight loud girls night out. (I don’t understand why gay man can’t have their own safe space anymore, and woman don’t organize themselves to create their own safe place if they don’t want to be bothered by straight man)… just like Cosy bar… I love straight woman, but please… I wanna go somewhere I can see and interact with gay people. Not that if you go there you will socialize with anyone there and meet new people anyway. It is now a sad little place in town.
I don’t know what can i say about this place. Not too bad not good.. atmosphere is good but bar is too small.. will i go back there again? Of course NO.
Absolutely no frindly spirit inside the bar. Grumpy and arrogant bartenders, kids that just talk to them selved. 100kr for "cocktails" that are served so randomly and without any passion. They do not even knw to smile when serving. Copenhagen deserves better gay club. I guess this would be a standard somewhere in the middle of Jutland if they ever get to a momentum that someone actually opens one.Maybe in 50.years.This country us a joke and then some call it gay paradise. They is more fun in Saudi Arabia!!
Only here for a long weekend, but the bar is cozy, welcoming and the locals and barkeepers are fluent in multiple languages and very accommodating! See you next time! 😉
