My boyfriend Alex and I, a British couple, popped into this bar on a Wednesday evening. And even though it was half full, we ended up having an fantastic time chatting with the thoroughly friendly and interesting locals - plus the excellent hostess. We would unreservedly recommend
What a cute and cozy bar ❤️❤️❤️Service was fast and staffs are nice. Sadly didn’t get to see drag show downstairs as my date doesn’t like loud music. Overall, it was fantastic. Highly recommended!!
My boyfriend and I had such a nice evening in R7 - the owner and staff are very kind, friendly and open - as are the patrons. It’s a ‘proper’ queer bar with a community vibe which is really special. Sad we have to leave Hanoi so soon and miss the Friday drag night! If you’re in Hanoi I couldn’t recommend this bar enough.
What can I say other than I cherish the LOVE and the SPIRITS that are always here in R7 bar. I really want to write a long thank you speech to all the awesome and lovely staff here but I realize my English is not enough for that. Anyway, thank you guys so much for giving me such a wonderful life experience.
I went to R7 on their first anniversary. I could not possibly write enough of a good review of my experience. The sign shines like a beacon at the top of the building signaling access to a rooftop bar and a dance floor down below. The metrics of a club compared to a bar are spread thin at this LGBTQ+ establishment. And it IS an LGBTQ+ establishment, as the owners reiterated to me just as well as the patrons. Overall, one message is clear at R7: everyone is welcome. The beautiful open-air rooftop bar is intimate and cosy with a view from the 8th floor and electric heaters to combat the winter chill of the late evenings. They have unique and reasonably priced cocktails with a lot of variety. I was able to order a cocktail with fresh mint and it was well-made. The extensiveness of the bar could rival many higher end ones that charge far more.Despite quietly sneaking through the soundproofed hallways from one floor to the other so as not to disturb neighbors, my party and I felt safe and comfortable. The bathrooms are the very best. Clean and plentiful, the toilets are heated and equipped with Japanese-style bidets and throughout the whole night there was never much of a wait or a mess. I also found it unique that they used cloth towels for hand-drying over less eco-friendly options. Toilets this clean and nice were a sight for sore eyes in Hanoi. Also, shout out to my ATINY friend behind the bar. :)As a side note, after talking to friends in the area about my experience, I heard the following comments:“It’s not only an LGBT bar; it’s a community, and the community is happy.”“People need to know about R7 because when you google ‘gay bars’ in Hanoi, the result that comes up is a bar that is run by straight men in the tourist area.”I don’t know about that, but I felt it important to include.
I've gone a handful of times to R7 and, honestly, it's one of the best gay bars I've been to. Definitely the most welcoming and inclusive. The biggest difference compared to other places is the friendly staff and the atmosphere they create. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome, mingling with the crowd and making a point of chatting with newbies or those who came alone. (to the staff: this overall personal touch is what really sets you apart and makes the bar great)Very much of a "homey" feel (which is something I've never said about a gay bar before, lol, but is my favorite part)
Lovely place for a late night drink with a beautiful view of the city. Met the owners who are lovely, and was a nice surprise to find out Michael who coowns also grew up in Aotearoa 😁. Amazing place to chat, and highly recommend the padam cocktail!
The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and the staff were so kind. The rooftop views were great and the music was fun! My friends and I felt very welcomed and enjoyed being in a queer space. Would highly recommend!
The owner Micheal is an amazing person. The staffs are extremely friendly. This bar has an incredible vibe! If you are in Hanoi, this is THE must go to place!
