Round-Up Saloon is a cornerstone of Dallas' LGBTQ+ nightlife, offering a blend of honky-tonk charm and welcoming vibes since 1980. Located in the heart of the city's vibrant Oak Lawn neighborhood, it’s a go-to spot for anyone who enjoys country music and a relaxed, community-driven atmosphere. The venue is known for its lively dance floor, where patrons can two-step and line dance beneath the glittering disco ball. Regular dance lessons make it easy for newcomers to pick up the moves, whether you're into classic country steps or looking to add a little flair.
The space includes multiple bars, a front room with pool tables, and a cozy rooftop patio where guests can take a break from the dance floor action. For those who love a good karaoke session or a themed night out, the bar hosts a range of events, from drag shows to RuPaul’s Drag Race viewing parties.
Round-Up is not just a local favorite but also a draw for out-of-towners, thanks to its reputation as one of the best gay country western dance halls in the U.S.
I was genuinely surprised by my recent visit here. I ordered the same drink three times, from the same bartender, and noticed that each one was charged at a different price. When I politely brought it to their attention, I was ignored—no explanation, no correction. It’s disappointing to see this kind of inconsistency, especially without any transparency or accountability. I strongly encourage anyone visiting to double-check your receipts. A place like this should be upfront and consistent with pricing, and responsive when concerns are raised.
Came down to see my brother..he took me here. I am not a gay man but this was just a cool fun atmosphere!!! All the bartenders fast good and nice and the shows funny and wired but go in with an open mind because if you don't...might as well just sit in a cave. The beer is cold and and the pool tables and in great condition..its a good Bar
Just returned from visiting Dallas and was looking forward to going to a country bar. I was very disappointed overall! The name of the bar and the decor inside is country themed but that's where it ends. I was there on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and the total hours of country music played in those 3 nights was about 2 hours worth total for all 3 nights combined, the rest of the time was all dance/modern music you can hear anywhere else. The guys at the front door were friendly, the bar staff were not great, especially the "no personality" guys at the bar next to the pool tables and tequila bar-they were more interested in playing on their cell phones than working. If I was the management Id fire them immediately for sure! The bar staff at the other areas of the bar weren't much friendlier. Overall it was a "meh" experience, I'd be in no hurry to ever go back. It wasn't the "country" bar I thought it would be! Some other reviews I read mentioned this bar used to be way better (more country music) a long time ago....I'd tend to believe those reviews now that I was there in person.
I was so excited to celebrate my 21st birthday at Oaklawn, but now I regret it. I walked in through the back, had my ID scanned by a worker who wished me a happy birthday, which seemed nice.Later, a drunk girl overheard me talking about my birthday and burst into the restroom stall I was in while I was peeing to wish me happy birthday, which felt really weird (now looking back she probably wanted to put a face to her false accusations). Then, while waiting for karaoke, me and my friends were being escorted to the front to have our ID's checked AGAIN by workers and an officer. They closely inspected it and wished me a happy birthday again. After an hour, I left and returned, only to have a worker (white, redhead, pink face mask) wave me away repeating "bye" and accuse me of bragging about being underage in the restroom, which never happened (I'm assuming the overly intoxicated girl was a hater). I tried to explain and even offer proof (credit card, Instagram stories, pic of birth certificate), but he wouldn't let me speak and tried to call someone on me. I left feeling so humiliated and frustrated. It’s awful to be treated like this when I did nothing wrong. And if they thought I was underage then why would they let me stay before the second time they gave me a hard time. Won’t be coming back.
My Favorite Bar EVER!This place is everything. They played the best music, the drinks were super reasonably priced, and the dance floor was such a blast! The bartenders were amazing—so friendly and welcoming. Most places, the bartenders seem irritated or over it, but not here. They actually seemed happy to be there, and were so kind. Also, I recommend taking advantage of coat check. It was worth it. Already can’t wait to go back!
Some of the bartenders here have to do crossword with other bars, and they are also extreme liberal activists so you can expect to keep your mouth shut and make sure you watch your tab. Some of the bartenders are really good, but they make terrible drinks, whereas the bartenders who think they own the place make good drinks whether or not they like you. So for that reason, I give them an extra thumbs-up
A hootin' and hollerin' good time!I took my mom here (her first gay bar) and she was delighted by the graceful cowboys twirling on the dance floor and the...
Used to love this place, great vibe always had a good time. Now they charge for WATER. Our DD tried to order a water and was told they only offer bottle...
My first time ever there I loved it. I loved how the woman's restroom was clean and no nasty smell or mess on the floor. That's the one thing I always look at are the restrooms especially the women's... Best time I had in a long time
Used to be the best bar in Dallas - gay or straight. It’s turned into a sad excuse for a bar. Music is so loud it rattles the walls. It’s all techno and hip hop but not the kind you want to hear on the dance floor. The only good thing is that the bartenders are top notch. Otherwise, it’s lost its magic. Change the DJs, turn down the musics and bring back the old round up!
Adrian was a GREAT host!! He helped us so much & vibes where so on point! Felt very safe and so much like family! Love the energy & environment! Adrian is one person who did help me and my two friends enjoy our night!
Very Fun and Welcoming! 6 bars in the saloon?! Count me in! The music, the line dancing, the friendliness of the bartenders was amazing. I was in town...
The most consistent gay bar & nightclub in DFW. It's a big space with lots of bars and rooms including an outside patio and top deck. They are very involved in the community and host numerous events each season, plus their regular free dance lessons, drag shows, and nightly karaoke! 🤠
Best/safest feeling spot in Dallas to go out to! The surrounding area has a lot of bars, but this is by far the coolest/most fun one. Love the dancefloor,...
All your little line dancing dreams will come true. A super cute gay bar with a Texas twang. Ask Trevor the bartender to pour you something tall and strong, make it a hurricane before you go insane, he’ll definitely take care of you. It’s a great place, check it out.
My favorite bar/club in DFW. It’s expansive, clean, and have the best staff. Love the outdoor area and rooftop view too. Go see Macarena for Drag Race nights! She’s seriously the best and nicest host!
Instead of fun. They charge a cover of $10 per person. You have several bars and environments. The dance floor is the best. The people who attend give me the impression of being very authentic, extroverted, sexy and spontaneous. Here you can get a guy named Patrick who walks in thongs and gives you an incredible massage.Go and have fun!
