Nestled in Brussels' Freedom Quarter, not far from the Royal Palace, Sauna Oasis offers a distinctive experience for gay men seeking relaxation and camaraderie. Housed in a neoclassical mansion, this venue combines traditional bathhouse amenities with the ambiance of a luxurious members' club. Visitors can explore a labyrinth of facilities, including dry saunas, steam baths, a jacuzzi, and private cabins. The lounge area features a fully equipped bar, providing a welcoming space for socializing. Under new management, Sauna Oasis has undergone renovations to restore its historic charm while updating its amenities. Sundays are particularly popular, often featuring special events that foster a sense of community. Whether you're looking to unwind in the hot tub, enjoy a drink at the bar, or participate in themed nights, Sauna Oasis provides a versatile environment without any pressure to engage beyond your comfort level. It's a place where everyone is welcome to be themselves.
I've been to Oasis several times and have enjoyed it.However, on January 21 2025 I visited, to find significant works underway and a very very limited amount of the sauna in use. I was surprised to have workmen there at the same time as it was open.I have no doubt that the improvements will be worth it - but the business should be closed while it is ongoing. My advice is to wait to visit until the works are finished.
For me, the glorious golden years of this sauna were the decade or so after 1995. It was magical. After a few visits since the (initially disappointing) changes, I can say that it does indeed still have its old charm and spirit, if not the heaving crowds of hundreds of horny men of all ages, types, and tastes it used to have. The atmosphere is still sociable and relaxing, and I have always been able to find some frisky playmates. It is always clean, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the facilities are comfortable. Despite some mistakes in the redecoration, the main spaces are still grand and intimate at the same time - a welcome combination in this age of industrial hardcore sex clubs (which I also enjoy, by the way).I will always be faithful to the Oasis!
Very good sauna in a beautifull setting. It’s a relaxed kind of sauna (read: no GHB vibes, no afterparty vibes, more like a coffee in the bar and a newspaper) .I’m 39 , and that’s a bit younger than the average age , but there is a variety. The staff is just the sweetest, always super friendly. What I also appreciate is that the music in the bar suits this place very well (moloko / sade / massive attack …)The place is always super clean, it’s an old building but it’s been taken care of very well!Keep up the good work!
Not ideal for asian tourist!Visited this sauna because I’m a fan of daddies and bear. I don’t speak french. Quite sad that most of the men here are not interested to certain type of guy like me; SouthEast asian, slim body. Wouldn’t even bother to smile. The place itself is nice, bit old but you can feel authentic sauna vibes. Ps. I’m not weird, really felt isolated here so I left early. I don’t want to play the R card but that felt like it
Waste of time. If you come at 19.30 ur locked out at 21.15 as all the lights are going on. Not that bad as most people are 45+ and the staff is not really welcoming or warm, nor is the hammam.
The place is interesting in many aspects. Quite old but has its own special energy. Big and nice Finnish sauna. Large pool and nice jacuzzi. Indeed, the visitors are mostly 60+ and bear type or tourists like me. I didn't like the changing rooms and the countless stairs.
Used to be good under the former management. Was taken over by French owners and lost all of its charm. From skimpy towels to much higher costs, reduced space (they removed 2 entire floors), restaurant that has become an overpriced joke with only cold salads from aldi, no more cheaper days, less people and sterile atmosphere. Best to avoid.
