About

The Mining Company, known as TMC, is a long-standing fixture in Dallas's LGBTQ+ scene. Located on Cedar Springs Road in the heart of Oak Lawn, this bar is part of the city's vibrant ""gayborhood."" Originally opened in the late 1970s as the Throckmorton Mining Company, TMC has since evolved into a lively space that caters to a diverse crowd, including locals and visitors alike.

The venue offers a mix of experiences, from a buzzing dance floor with DJs spinning pop, dance, and hip-hop to quieter spots on its two outdoor patios—ideal for relaxed conversations. TMC is especially known for themed events like Trashy Tuesday, which draws a fun-loving crowd looking for a night of energetic beats and strong drinks. Alongside the music and dancing, guests can enjoy pool tables and friendly bartenders who contribute to the bar’s welcoming vibe.

The bartenders at TMC know their way around a cocktail, whether you're in the mood for something classic or a custom creation. The crowd here is diverse, creating a space where everyone feels like they can be themselves while enjoying a fun night out in Dallas.

If you’re going to indulge in this place, TAKE CASH. I just arrived back home after a visit to Dallas and this establishment only to be notified about an additional tip being added to my card. I didn’t tip (on purpose) because the service wasn’t that great. I paid $14.75 for a LIT and ended up being charged $20.76. That’s a 6 dollar tip that I didn’t authorize!!!! Please use cash if you plan on going to this place. I should’ve never……

Jacob, Sez, Chris, and Alby are the best! Ng the manager not so much and their decision to stop using the virtual DJ system is the dumbest! But the 4 people listed above are the only reason I still go there!!

First time here for New Year’s Eve. This is my favorite club for a couple reason. Mind you I don’t go out too often since two years ago.1.Diversity here goes crazyyyy. Racially. Aesthetically. Everything.2. This vibe is not stuck up. Dancers are friendly and vibrant. The crowd doesn’t feel like other places I’ve been where the vibe is stand-off ish.3. Service is great. We got drinks super fast and they prices were reasonable. The bartender went out of the way to ensure I could handle my drink. Also it was very cold last night and the outdoor bartender was still killing it in his outfit! Such a breath of fresh air. I’m not use to interacting with such friendly service people on a night out.4. Environment: I loved that there is enough space to actually breath and move around. I can’t stand always feeling in the way of something or smushed. I love that there’s two patios.

I was at TMC this morning and when I kindly asked a gentleman to please not blow nicotine smoke in people’s face while waiting in line at the establishment’s patio bar because I am allergic to nicotine, a large woman who claimed to work there was disrespectful and dismissive. She told me it’s the patio and to to deal. Then threatened to have me kicked out. Upon embellishing the story, security told me they would mace me if I didn’t leave, after I stated I would leave. Staff need to be cognasant of customer’s needs and allergies. A simple apology would have sufficed. Kindness would have been acceptable. There was no reason or need for dismissal and a disregard for human health. I have filed a police report with the city of Dallas for S. long, badge # APG-108 for his non compliance of name and badge number when asked and for the establishments violations of civil liberties. My allergies were not taken seriously and not one staff member, the bar, the off duty employ or the two security guards cared or tried to emphathize with the human health violation. This is never how any customer should be treated; made to feel further victimized — without being asked my side of the issue. Threatened with mace because I stood up for my health by kindly stating, “in the future, please do not blow your smoke into a persons face.” No compassion or kindness was provided to me in my anaphylactic, anxious and traumatic state. TMC as a business pillar in the community I challenge you and your employees to do better and be a role model in the community. Especially considering that Texas law states that smoking should not occur within 15 feet of the entrance of a business and I was first in line at the bartender about to place my order.Furthermore, the female employee that identified herself as working for TMC continued to insult my husband by telling him that he had alopecia. This is not professional or how your represent an employer; on or off the clock. Why would any person insult a customer and personalize the insults to their party for having an allergic reaction. victim shaming is not okay and the fact the employees stood behind one another in this act speaks volumes.

It's a hit and miss with the crowd. No control with the weed smoking on the patio. The smell is all over the bar and patio.

next time I’ll bring cash. The bartender charged me a five dollar tip which the service wasn’t all that good so I didn’t add one ! Came with a friend and paid for both of our shots and they put an additional $5 charge . Will never be back . Nice club though

I have visited this establishment a few times with my friends. I truly appreciate the ambiance and enjoy watching the dancers perform. There's the area outside with tables & seats to relax & talk.

Alby is the best bartender there is. I love this place and having him as my bartender just makes my experience that much better. I came here on my birthday and he gave me the best service.

I went to TMC on a slow Monday afternoon/evening. Alec was so wonderful, we chatted at the outside bar for hours, and he made me a custom pineapple peach...
