TRADE is a men only dance, bar, cruise, club located just off Oxford St at 273 Crown Street. TRADE is a large venue over 4 levels and is also fully licensed. TRADE is open from Tuesday to Sunday. TRADE is also available for events and functions.
Is this place still open?I walked here last week on 13 December 2023 to find that the doors were shut even though the online information said it was open.I don't live in Sydney so I was just visiting during a short holiday. I'll be back in Sydney in March 2024 so I am keen to know one way or the other if this place is still open. Thanks.
I went on a Saturday night expecting it to be busy and there was literally no one. The guy at the entrance told me that there were a lot of people and I paid 35 dollars. it was a waste of money, please don't go
Went Saturday night after hitting the clubs at 11pm was alright. Not very busy but the crowd was diverse and mostly respectful. Something for everyone. Guys on front desk were friendly so not sure why theres a few complaints. Had fun for $35. Two levels are open. Third one closed for renovations.
Loads of equipment, huge venue, and world pride was amazing and packed every night. Can’t wait to come here again. Drinks on the house upon entry . Best thing money can buy while can buy while in Sydney .
Possibly the worst place/club where I have been in Sydney. If you were looking just for a f.k better to go to the sauna. It might be a good place to go maybe on a weekend but avoid it during the week as even during World Pride with 78 thousand visitors from around the world, this place was empty even at 1am.
$100 entry. No need to say more..as some of the owner's responses bellow states - you are offered free drink and unlimited pass-out, I was never offered those. Also there was no sign at the entrance informing people about the price. Asked one of the guys inside - he got in for $75. Disappointed
Paid 30$ pp for entry to an empty club. There was only 1 person there and that was the doorman all the other reviews are not bot accounts. I asked if there will be any shows on the answer "there might be later". Just go to stonewall or the Burdekin or Universal people show up to those places and 2 of those 3 don't charge entry. I feel bad for the doorman he knows he's ripping people off.
Terrible. AVOIDAll the bad reviews are true and not bots as the delusional owner/manager will claim. Went to the barcode NYE party. Advertised as “ full event production , DJs, laser show”. None of this was there. Turned out to be an overpriced regular night at a badly maintained not cleaned sex club. ( ok if that’s what’s you are after but for this event totally false advertising ). I guess I should have gone to the bar for 12 glasses of free “ champagne” to break even on this terrible experience.Rude response from owner on messenger when I mentioned it after.
Charged 30 dollars per person for a club that had 0 people in it and refused a refund for a 30 second visit. How can you take a hundred bucks from a group while knowing no one is in there and then say no to a refund? You’re scammers to say the least
The skinny Aussie guy on the counter needs to go he is killing your business so rude no manners, lies to people to get them to come in just to take your money what happened to be honest to people maybe they will trust this venue and come in . To the owner if you want your business to improve get ride of the guy is is hurting your business ride , arrogant no a people person lies to get you to come in also when you call home to get info so rude to us I thought you want customers to come in and enjoy them selves he giver me the creeps what happened to go old customer service these days
What is the owner of this place on? Power/drugs/up their own arse? Talk about an excellent way to kill your own business! These responses from the owner scream AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. Plenty of other places in Sydney to get a bonk with this hassle.EDIT : Response shows how deluded the owner is.
This place is horrible. The drinks are nasty, the place smells super musky, the bouncer is the biggest power-tripped POS on the planet, and the servers are a bunch of bell ends too. But most of all, the owner of this place SUCKS. Just look at his responses. Garbage human being who can’t take criticism. Man I’d love one day for the opportunity to meet this coward face to face.Don’t go here.
Look, it's rather ironic they name this venue Trade considering they actually don't want to do any trade but given the Intelligence of the staff, I'm not surprised. If you don't want to be scammed, avoid this place like the plague. If you insist on going - make sure you pay with cash so you can see exactly how much they're charging you.I along with a few other gents who entered after me were charged over $90 for entry and $40 per drink – would not have noticed had one of the lovely men not checked his pay pass history which inspired us all to do the same. Now; I'd like to assume this was an honest mistake but after bringing it up with the man behind the till who refused to refund and instead insisted on insulting multiple customers... I can safely assume that either they're stealing from trusting clientele or the cashier has a severe intellectual and emotional disability. If the later is the case, I hope the manager assists the unfortunate employee with transactions and customer service in the future; or they take a hard long look at themselves.Chaps, just avoid it and keep your money safe. Owner, I took some goods from your shelves to make up for the stolen money... oh, and I've reported you.
Came into this club at around 1AM on Tuesday the 4th. We weren’t expecting a crowd or for the club to be busy since it was a Tuesday however the employee at the counter who advised his name is “Josh Smith” promised there would be strippers inside providing a show, so we went ahead and paid a $30 entry fee EACH.After having a couple drinks on the first level that was completely empty, we proceeded to enter the lower levels where we found that there was not a single other person in the club besides us. And absolutely NO strippers even though we had been told there would be.After this disappointing revelation, we went back up to ask “Josh” where the strippers are. He told us he never knew if they were there in the first place and started to make demeaning comments such as “all the strippers are probably at home with their families because they have jobs to go to tomorrow, it’s a Tuesday”. We asked if he knew when some strippers would be coming in as he promised there would be, and he continued on by saying that he didn’t know and there probably won’t be any coming. We requested our entry fee back, he declined. We requested at least one free drink, he declined. He told us that he, “Josh Smith” was the manager of the club and there was absolutely no one else we could contact for assistance. An absolute joke and waste of money + disgusting service from a completely incompetent employee. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!
Dishonest and rude venue. Dirty and smelly place and not looked after properly. On 13th May Friday around 3AM, the front desk guy was shouting at people and he even ran across to the road and started throwing insults at a guy when he complained. It was shocking to see this kind of behaviour in a place where it is meant to be fun and welcoming.
I used to really enjoy this venue when it was Headquarters. When it initially changed hands, there were pretty people on the counter at the door, but they gave a lot of attitude, and didn't do simple things like give you a container without you having to ask. That was a big change. You don't want attitude when you're asking for something that is fairly customary at these kind of venues.I've continued to give the venue a chance when around, and I think the customer service has improved quite a bit, but attendance seems to be still be way down. It's a shame, as it's not a bad venue. Was disappointed to hear they are putting a nightclub upstairs. I liked the set up.9
Most arrogant door person I’ve ever met keeps on lying to customers telling at the store is busy when there’s no one in there please do not go there any more anyone it is a waste of time and money all they want to do is take your money no one goes there any more it is a waste of time money to place is pathetic badly run been there on Saturday no one there Sunday no one there and all they ever do is take your money online so it is so busy pneumonia and walk and see if there’s no one in there he just tells you I just walked in the worst customer service in my life please do not go there go somewhere else they’re better places out there
BARCODE event DO not go. Not worth it.Better go to sydney sauna. Much more fun there.DO NOT believe the owner reply about the event was packed and sold out. He is Delusional and LIAR. It was very quiet. This is the reason why the guys turned away from your venue and no repeat customers. It was terrible night, not fun and quiet. Compared it to Sydney Sauna: much more fun and hot guys. Only the old, creepy and desperate man goes to this venue.Overpriced, quiet, lame.To the owner: just closed the business and give upRE: This is not a fake profile, I just do not want to use my real name for this review.I attended the Barcode event along with some other friends in April. My comment is real and not fake. It was quiet and not worth to go. You just sent an invite for June barcode event, definitely NOT going. I encourage everyone who read this comment to NOT go there. Better go to Sydney Sauna , more fun and better venue. To the owner, your venue is the one that struggling. Sydney Sauna is full of hot guys and patrons.I regretted my choice going to Barcode event that night.
This type of venue is precious to Sydney. Unfortunately the way it's being run is outrageous.Hopefully he sells out soon and someone can revitalise it before it's too late.Just a continual rip off , all other reviews here are on the mark, do not waste your money. It's not a one off complaint.Barcode is dead as an "event", I've been many times, and again recently, attendance used to be in the hundreds, in general in 2022 there's maybe 20 at best.Full of potential just needs a new owner !

I turned up to Trade on Easter Saturday at about midnight and at the counter asked if it was busy the guy said yeah it’s real busy and said it’s $40 which I paid I walked in and the place was basically empty I saw a friend there and he confirmed that there was two or three people downstairs and in the whole building I asked for my money back only because the guy who served me clearly lied and wanted to take my money. Businesses that don’t operate on a basis of honesty and integrity can’t be patronised very well I’m guessing that’s why the place was empty the no refund policy is also a ruse my advice to anybody thinking about going to trade club either by advance ticket purchasing or as I did randomly I advise against it it once was a popular venue but it’s clearly had its day and it’s business approach is not working honesty is always the best policy and when you lie and deceive that’s not a very good business plan I also note that Bang clothing is a sponsor of the Trade Club operation I would be reluctant to patronise any operation that has any affiliation with trade club I’ve learnt my lesson and that lesson is enter at your own peril. By the way there was no covid safety in place. No masks. BTW. I was also threatened by the staff to not review my experience. It was on the whole a horrible way to have my money stolen from me by a fraudulent business. I wouldn’t even rate this pile with a star. Sad face.
It was a mistake to come here.Rooms were not private.Smelt like smoke.Terrible industrial music and scary atmosphere. No showers.Pay extra for towels.Go somewhere else.
Just been abused by the doorman. On entry asked if anyone was in... Rammed was the reply.Walked in after paying $120 for 2 and there was one person in the whole building.Asked for a refund and the guy kicks off, Littlerally throwing punches at the door.
The guy in the reception sold us 2 tickets for 80 dollars without telling us that there were no people inside, so we didn’t have any party here. We the owner to reach out to us and make a solution.
Is this a joke? They charged us $80 and there was no party at all, we decided to leave straight away and the guy didn't refund us, what a joke seriously!!!

$65 for the 2 for 1 special on a Wednesday night was throwing away good cash.2 people in the venue. The private room had broken TV, broken fan and some of the lights didn’t work. Told the staff about the issues and they couldn’t get the TV, fan or light to work.I offered the key back to staff after 40 mins. He said to keep it. Sat upstairs decided to leave as only 1 person there. The manager responded to this review with venom and insults. The community have the right to know fact before they spend their hard earned money.

I've had three of the best casual encounters of my life with three different Asian guys over as many Mardi Gras' when it was HeadQuarters. One of whose number I got and we've stayed in touch. Another I wish we had swapped numbers as it was one of the best connections I've ever felt in my life. If he still went there and the staff knew who he was I'd give them my name and number and ask them to give it to him with a reminder of what we got up to! The truth of the matter is it was just as quiet outside of special events when it was HeadQuarters as it is now as Trade. It's a shame it's not better patronised because it's got a good vibe and layout. The staff have always been friendly and nice to me.
this place is a rip-off, me and my partner went in at 11pm, charged $50 for entry, then we purchased some "Leather cleaner" and they did now tell how much and tiled the efps screen so I did not see the price when I used my card and I was charged $75, there was only 3 guy in the whole place. it used to be packed before lockout, Im sure they get packed during Mardi Gras and NYE but so is every place in that area.Does the Manger even read the review before replying, were in this review did I say I got a Private room ??????

TRADE is an amazing club for guys. Huge place over 4 levels. I almost got lost in there. Nice staff and great bar as well. Hot guys everywhere and no lock out . Great place to go if you like guys. Its like the night clubs in Germany. Very sexy place.
The secret of running a successful business is to make the customer feel welcomed , charge a reasonable price and provide what the customer needs so they keep coming back , the original owner of this business before the name change knew how to run this business and it was often full of people but now it is disappointing to me and the new owner needs to undertake an in depth assessment of this business and find out how to bring it back to lifeIt is often 100 times harder to get new customers than to keep happy existing customersThis is constructive criticism and I believe a realistic assessment without trying to be nasty
This place was taken over by new owners that have killed this place. Promotional material suggest sell out events and their Eventbrite page is always selling out first and second round tickets but when you get to the event no one is there. The only 5 star rating here since they took over is from one of the owners friends who I noticed gave a 1 star rating to a clothing store that is competition with him and a 5 star rating to his friends store. Come on Sydney! Wake up to this blatant marketing scam. Unfortunately a bunch of Mardi Gras tourists are going to fall for this marketing and go to a venue and be disappointed. No hot water, no air, they close levels when there are not enough people so it “feels” busier... the paper sign that says “no hot water today” has been up for 6 months.Just to be clear on the reply by the “Trumpesque” owner here who shows his expert use of hyperbole and is defensive and insulting. My experience is from years of connection and experience of visiting all venues in Sydney. I hate marketing and promotion as it is fake, not me. I’m not sure what kind of person throws around the words “vile queen” anymore apart from people that may have been called that a lot over their time in the 70’s 80’s or 90’s.... it’s 2020 maybe we can all be honest about our experiences without being branded as somehow being destructive. This venue is self destructing by not listening to valid criticism and trying to “wallpaper” over actual valid points to cover them up. Being made to pay more for entry depending on what you look like or how the person behind the counter feels is unlawful, unethical and has been noticed by more people than just me I’ve discovered over the past couple of weeks. This review is meant to give some clarity and advice to the potential patrons, staff and owners of this venue. If something here has hit a nerve then maybe it is because it is true and indefensible. I’m not sure how long people will put up with being told how sold out the events are but seeing a completely non sold out crowd. Here’s another real experience to add... I went once to a “sold out” Barcode party where I was the 11th person inside (I counted us all) and I was given number 311 for my cloak check, written in pen on my wrist band. So it seems that the owners think the patrons would fall for thinking that somehow there were 300-400 tickets sold or people at the party because they began the wrist band numbers at 300? This kind of delusional “promoting” as it has been called here is just another record for cheating and lying and is rife in Sydney. I’m a single guy who is able to articulate my opposition to being lied to and mislead. Pretty sure vile queens everywhere are also not happy about being associated with this venue.
