Hidden in the backstreets of Canal St, Centre Stage is committed to serving up lots of Camp Cabaret & Nostalgic Tunes. Manchesters leading venue Dedicated To Yesteryear. Come and grab a cocktail, sit back and take a trip down memory lane with us.
Centre Stage is a fairly reliable club in The Village. It won't disappoint but it likely won't knock your socks off. And of course, it depends on the night that you go. The place is attitude free: all persuasions are welcome. Drinks are reasonably priced & there is no cover charge. Unfortunately, the night we stopped in the queen was lip synching. Maybe the entertainment is elevated a notch on other nights. Give it a try for a drink & a few songs
AVOID. AVOID. AVOID.I got really ill for 2 days after just one glass of wine that tasted off here. I tried to say to the barman it may be corked but he simply replied in a stroppy manner saying it was not.I passed by one afternoon and spoke to an unhappy looking man with cropped hair who looked like he was the owner to share what happened and he said I could find another place to drink. Very big of him.... not.I'd avoid if you like hygiene and health.
I went here last night and initially had a good time, however later on I got chatting to one of the bar staff. He told me that he found it surprising that I spoke English because I'm from London. He then continued to tell me "it's full of Polish people". Imagine thinking it's acceptable to be fully racist. And, that's your first interaction with someone you don't even know. Your bar hangs flags outside to proclaim diversity and to be inclusive yet your staff says stuff like this. Unbelievable.
Called in randomly on a night out, was served by Aaron, who served us promptly, kept us laughing during our time there. The atmosphere was great and we enjoyed Aaron’s company very much - this place is a must visit!
I came in here tonight with a couple of friends. The service was fantastic especially the service from a lady called Tracey. I will definitely come here again.
Great bar . Good value . Brilliant atmosphere. Tracey is lovely so friendly . Highly, highly recommended. Don’t go to the village without visiting. So welcoming. Brilliant vibe
Our go to place when escaping Nottingham. The welcome from Tracey is sooo good, makes it feel like a local pub. Service is always good and entertainment is professional and most importantly for me, funny AF.Very happy to recommend Centre Stage
My favourite bar! Always able to have a good time here, whether I’m on my own or with friends. People here are always so friendly! Evan is an absolute gem, the first of many of the great bar staff here to make me feel welcomed when I first started coming months ago, amazing service 💕
What can i say, probably one of thest if not the best bar in manchesters gay village, after visiting a days in a row - early doors. i was greeted by Aaron with his big smile and welcoming demeanor. Aaron is lovely as are all of the staff but he made me feel welcome during my time at centre stage.
The best bar by far, personally for me. Drags always cracks good jokes and ever a dull time. And Tracey is always up for a swift natter too. Love her to bits. Always great service.
WHAT A NIGHT! center stage is the place to be on a Friday-Sunday they have the best entertainment which are a laugh a minute Cheryl roll pole and Thorini are incredible really belly laughing stuff the bar staff are attentive and quick always a smile from Scott with banter to match! Makes you feel welcomed and at home the venue it's self is is a gem in the heart village you must go! Honestly there no place better!!
I love visiting centre stage. It’s a small bar with a really friendly atmosphere playing classic party music. They normally have good drag entertainment on too, I wish they would bring back Ms Angel Delight on a Sunday. Drinks are reasonable and the staff are lovely - especially Scott who has great banter.
Thank you Centre Stage, had a brilliant time on Sunday. Barman Scott was fantastic and the drag queen was hilarious. Will be there soon again for sure!
Visited on Sunday had a great time, what’s not to love with the drag queen putting on great entertainment and Scott making us lovely drinks at the bar - will be visiting again very soon.
Love coming here, normally have a great time. Came on Monday the 25th of September and one of the bar staff had the worst attitude, had a shaved head and black long sleeved top on. We were ordering drinks and also wanting glasses of water with that and he had the weirdest problem with us wanting water and kept rolling his eyes when asking for it and making pointed comments about it. Then later on when we tried to tip the drag artist on stage and the bouncer he told us it's not possible to do even though on previous visits we have done this very easily. We had to speak the Carmen, the drag queen, herself to tip her personally through her PayPal. This worked for us though as wouldn't have expected her to get it if we'd given this person behind the bar her tip. Worst attitude which put a bit of a negative on the night. I'd suggest to the venue having a talk with him about customer service. As a previous bar manager I'd be mortified to know one of my staff was effecting the revenue and welcoming vibe of the venue.Do better
Love Love Love! Excellent place to chill out with the locals early doors and then great vibes all eve. Really good value drinks and a warm welcome! Next time I visit hopefully I'll find the man of my dreams- it's been a while but I last visited about a month ago and had a great time here before bar pop, the molly house and G.A.Y I always pop back to centre stage in-between bars. Lovely friendly staff too! Id just been to my first shoot before my visit and cant wait to bring the stilletos for my next one!
The smallest but best place in the village. Its proper old skool, the bar staff are mint, proper friendly and the atmosphere is amazing. I often start my night and end it here.... Realising I've forgot to go to other places, I blame the shots! 😂 😂
I visited on Thursday after doing a little shop in CEX, i met with some close friends. After we decided to meet up after work for a few drinks in Manchester. We came in centre stage, such an amazing vibe when you go in full atmosphere and the staff are always welcoming and friendly. We had a few drinks, met some amazing people and did a bit of karaoke.Whilst I wasn't a good singer but looking like Ed sheeran, definitely have to get my vocals on point. Especially when singing Dancing Queen.Credit to the staff and team at Centre Stage!Kind Regards,Aaron
Love this place, great drag acts and atmosphere. Only issue I had recently was last weekend when I fell down the stairs and the doorman laughed and kept laughing. I'd actually hurt myself so it was disappointing.
Nice place to bring friends to and even come alone. I have visited this place in early hours so it was quiet but staff was very friendly. You can enjoy variety of music have a beer or mix. But of all that what caught my attention is the lady working as a security.sorry I am smoker. She has a really good aura. Very nice with people and it looks like she is the first person to see when you come to this local. Well done. I hope the owner appreciate what kind of diamond she is.Anyway. Very good place to be in Manchester. Xxx
if youre under 40, dont bother unless you want to be bullied by men twice your age who thinks its appropriate to insult you and gatekeep your queerness xoxo
Rude bouncers. Normally a great bar with amazing staff. However tonight I saw the bouncers be extremely rude and not let a small sized ginger man in for no reason.
Love Centre Stage! It’s a real community pub & the staff make everyone feel so welcome, nothing is ever too much trouble. You walk in a stranger & leave a friend. Top class old school drag & entertains! Plus it’s Dog Friendly inside and outside till 10pm (some days they have entertainment early evening but they accommodate by sitting you on the quite side with you pooches) which is amazing! World class service.
I absolutely love it here.. it's so friendly and very welcoming...The pints are always on point... cheap as well!!If you're in manchesters Gay Village.. this is the place to visit!
