About
Gretas in Gothenburg is not just the city’s oldest gay bar—it’s a vibrant, inclusive hotspot for anyone looking to party in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Located at Drottninggatan 35, this two-floor club boasts two dancefloors and bars, offering different vibes to suit your mood. Upstairs, expect house music pumping through the night, while downstairs is a mix of disco, 70s, 80s, and 90s classics, with a bit of Schlager thrown in for good measure. It’s perfect for anyone who loves dancing to nostalgic beats or modern grooves.
Gretas is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 pm until the early morning hours, making it a prime spot to kick off your weekend. While it’s definitely a go-to for the LGBTQ+ community, Gretas is proudly straight-friendly, welcoming anyone who’s up for a good time with an open mind. Don’t be surprised if you catch a fabulous drag show on a particularly lucky night!
With its long history and loyal fanbase, Gretas is a staple of Gothenburg’s nightlife scene and an absolute must for visitors wanting to experience the city’s queer culture firsthand.
Not really Gay bar.Feels more like a lgbtq+ friendly straight place. The music was quite disappointing. The entrance fee was high but it was NYE so we understood, but the drinks are expensive.Overall quite a disappointing experience, has potential but the atmosphere is far from being a gay bar.
I visited Sweden for the first time from Manchester, England with my friends and the vibe felt like I was back home. The door staff were so friendly as well as the bar staff. The songs were good too! Definitely added some Swedish songs to my playlist 🙂
The last few times I’ve been there, expecting queer and gay people and a good club atmosphere , it has been middle aged, mostly straight people dancing to 80’s shuffle music? The dance floor upstairs it usually completely empty and not a lot of people there.
Odd place. Like many reviews here they told us we were too drunk to enter only to then let us in.Music was great for a dance.Drinks are pricy and we all got charged different amounts though we each bought the same items each round. And the differences were quite large. We had a fun night as a group but it’s not a great venue.
Really bad place!! My friend was very drunk and unwell and they refused to give him tap water, claiming you had to buy a bottle of water! But we had both lost our wallets and had no payment method!!! Such a horrible place, and very capitalist
