I returned to Brazil to visit the sauna because some friends who live in Brazil and frequent Chilli Pepper recommended it and spoke very highly of it. When I arrived, I was very well received by the security team, and the security guard who searched me spoke English and was very helpful. I really enjoyed the experience and the attention from the security guard Eduardo, who gave me impressive attention and helped me a lot when I felt unwell inside. The only thing that bothered me was the hygiene on the second floor, but otherwise, Chilli Pepper deserves praise. I will return to Brazil more often and will definitely go back to the sauna. 😃

Great place. Huge. The have to do a bit better on cleaning especially showers. Not everywhere is soap. Also that big couch downstairs at the pool is falling apart.

Why over 300 reviews cant be wrongReview of Hotel ChileAs a professional travel blogger, I approached Hotel Chile with curiosity and high expectations. Before writing this piece, I carefully read through more than 300 guest reviews, one by one, and what I found was troubling. The weight of feedback is not mixed but overwhelmingly negative. Guests consistently report that the hotel is overpriced for the level of service provided. Staff are frequently described as rude, with claims of arbitrary overcharging, while the prices for drinks are far beyond reasonable. Fundamental comforts — such as hot showers, clean rooms, and adequate lighting — are often missing, leaving many to question whether this is truly a hotel experience at all.Concerns run deeper than just poor service. Reviews repeatedly note that the reported number of people inside the venue does not match reality, suggesting an effort to mislead guests about how busy or popular the establishment really is. Safety both inside and outside the property is also a recurring theme: the second floor, for example, is described as being completely unlit, leaving guests feeling exposed and vulnerable. The surrounding area is frequently viewed as unsafe, which may not be within the hotel’s direct control but certainly affects its appeal. Tourists are further discouraged by the requirement to carry passports or ID into such an environment, a practice that places them at unnecessary risk. Most shocking of all is the mention of a death occurring on the premises, to which management has never publicly responded — a silence that raises serious concerns about accountability. As a Black man from Europe, I find these reports particularly disheartening. The level of professionalism, inclusivity, and service that one expects in Europe is absent here. If there is even a perception of prejudice or elitism, whether from staff or patrons, the hotel is excluding entire groups of potential guests. Adding to this distrust are what appear to be fabricated five-star reviews, often posted under the same name, which attempt to drown out genuine criticism rather than address it.I had originally considered staying at Hotel Chile for a night or two during my travels in Brazil. After studying the feedback, I will not. The reality presented by hundreds of past guests paints a picture of a poorly managed establishment that fails on service, safety, and credibility. The feedback is dire, and while I have emphasized the negative, it is simply because the majority of reviews leave no other impression. If Hotel Chile is to have any future, it cannot continue along its current path. It must reconsider its entire business model and make drastic, visible changes based on the feedback it has received. Until then, I cannot recommend this establishment to any traveler. Fortunately, Brazil offers many reputable saunas and hotels that provide real value, safety, and genuine hospitality. My advice is clear: avoid Hotel Chile and place your trust in businesses that respect both their guests and their reputation.

Not your average gay hotel / sauna! Overall the place is fantastic including spa pools, lounges, steam and dry sauna but most of all is the super helpful and friendly staff both at reception and the food / drink bar area. I highly recommend this place with many reception staff also speaking English and Spanish. I’ll be back!

The good: huge place with 3 levels, great crowd, multiple jacuzzis with different temperatures, plenty of rooms for rent, and plenty of lockers. It's open 24h and gets extremely busy Friday night. And their website even provides a live headcount so you know ahead of time how busy it is.The bad: the steam room is about as steamy as a my bathroom after a shower. Two of the bathroom/shower rooms have poor drainage so there is always water puddles on the floor. Also, there is very little communal play areas. The only shared spaces are a theater (which awkwardly has chairs instead of benches) and then one dark hallway which can get too crowded to move since it's the only dark spot to cruise. It would be so much better if they replaced some of the private rooms with more communal space like a maze, slings, etc

Neither Berkeley, CA, Chicago, IL, nor Mexico City, Mexico can beat this place. You’ll have a safe room with a safe inside of it, toilet, shower, big fresh air inlet with AC inside of the room, refrigerator with: regular water, mineral water, lemonade, coke, and some snacks.

The room variety is awesome with amenities that are definitely necessities but the rooms could use a refresh. The hotel does not have wifi which is very disappointing. The crowd is diverse in race, nationality, age and body type which I LOVE!Some attendents cause use some cuatomer service training while others are fantasic.Overall it gets a 5 with

Hands down one of the best saunas in the Americas. If you can afford it, get a suite on the first floor. They are clean and comfortable and has private bathrooms, AC, and mini frig. Note that if you are planning to stay for a while, you can order Rappi (food delivery) because it is technically a hotel and a bathhouse.

Esta é a primeira vez na minha vida que uma sauna gay pede para ver um passaporte, que normalmente só está disponível no aeroporto.Foreigners don't seem to be welcome here! First they want to see a passport, then they say a photo of the passport is enough, then suddenly the photo isn't enough after all. However, I must give a positive shout out to the security guard who really tried to find a solution, but the boss was not willing.I have also seen locals being let in without any problems, including a gentleman from Spain, who also had no problem.

If you are not Brazilian don’t go! People are racist to non Brazilian guys even if you speak Portuguese. The rooms are okay, clean but nothing wow. The pool, steam room and sauna are quite dirty especially the water in the pools. It’s a big place with lot of guys, more then 400 on a Friday but nobody will care about you if u are not Brazilian and don’t speak Portuguese.Prices are pretty high to be in Brazil

Very clean place with some of the hottest guys in Sao Paulo. The 3 stars is because they overcharged me. I stayed less than the minimum 6 hours (3 hours and 15 minutes to be exact) but was charged for 12 hours. I see from the other reviews that they have sometimes also overcharged for the drinks that you consume inside. Review your receipt as it is taken away upon your exit and you end up with no copy.

I was threatened by customers staying there to extort money. And the staff there can't do anything. I've been to many gay saunas. I've never seen a place this scary. Finally, my friend and I left there in less than 1 hour and lost 103 reels each with disappointment. And you know, even on Sunday when I went, there were only more than a dozen people using the service. And the toilet smell and full of stools.
