About
For over thirty years New York New York bar has been the beating heart of Manchester's Gay Village. Known for its hands-in-the-air nights with music that you can't help but sing along to, outrageous drag queens and, of course, a welcoming atmosphere - the venue has earned its nickname, The Party Palace.
Every week we welcome thousands of party goers through the door, providing a safe place for the LGBT+ community and their allies. The club has raised countless thousands for charity with special themed nights and charity events.
Owned and operated by Tracey Walsh, who was recently recognised in The Queen's New Year's Honours List with a British Empire Medal for services to charity, the venue prides itself on providing a place that allows you to be whoever you want to be.
Our main room is open from 8pm every night with a resident DJ every night.
Don't feel like dancing? Our coffee and cocktail bar is open from 1pm every day 'til close with comfortable seating and places to charge your phone or laptop.
Can not thank NYNY, Tracey and Lauren enough for the amazing experience I had when organising a surprise birthday party at the venue … 100% would recommend booking here for throwing a party and for even drinking in the bars downstairs. Never had a bad experience and always go back!
Such a fantastic gay bar it's a must day for anyone to attend. We live in Blackpool but we are definitely going back there soon as we get some more money
Great location and always great decor, but the flag !? And the owner..The flag says: "the pride I have for you fills me with pride", which is a longwinded way of using the English language to say absolutely nothing and put it on a huge enough flag that it seems as iconic as Martin Luther King Jr. Also, the owner is an entitled B.
I had a party in the private function room over the weekend, and Tracy and Lauren's excellent communication throughout the entire process was greatly appreciated. The bartenders were outstanding—they were welcoming, informed, and polite. There was a lot of assistance available to deliver the cake and balloons before the event, and the same service was offered while picking them up. Your needs are the staff's top priority. The function room itself is quite chic and has a cozy yet energetic club atmosphere. The saxophonist and DJ could both be accommodated by the superb sound system.Tracey your whole team are an asset to, keep up the great work you all do. I have one very satisfied birthday girl.
If I could I’d give this place a 0 as me and my young, female friends where touched my multiple men in the bar. Did not feel safe and was very scared to be there.
Me and my friends booked a bingo night with Funny Boyz for the time we were in Manchester. Unfortunately, it was very disappointing for us and was not up to our expectations. First of all, the booking said from 18 till 21:30. We were there at 18 and were told that we were very early. Then all of this hen parties started to come in. (I guess we missed that this was actually a straight girls party.) At around 19 we made it to our table, but then we realized that the bingo would not be starting very soon. The music : who let the dogs out and MacD, KFC and the Pizzahut. None of these songs will be played at a gay venue, but I guess that suits the taste of hen parties. The music was also very loud, that made it very annoying to sit there with your fingers up your ears. Then the "comedy" started. A drag queen with a d*ldo out while other queens lick it, pure comedy that we didn't see before. Still the bingo didn't start yet, two hours have passed and in the mean time all we could do is order drinks as that obviously the main goal of letting you wait for so long. None of the queens came to interact with us and focussed on the brides of the hen parties. We looked at our bingo card and it was as tiny as a stamp, if you had any 3 numbers it was a bingo. So even the bingo itself must have been boring to sit around and wait for the one number on your card to be called out. The prizes you could win? A dinner for two, a round of drinks or whatever, all of the prizes you can only spend in the venue itself. We left before the bingo even started, which we paid 28 pounds for. The venue itself was also very dark and outdated, and lights in toilet didn't work. Conclusion: gays don't go here, unless you love hen parties. You will be having a great night elsewhere.
My partner arranged a surprise party for my 40th recently at NYNY. What can I say, the venue is great, but what really makes it special is Tracey and her team. I honestly had the best time, the music was fabulous and the drinks were flowing. All my guests said they had the best time. Thank you Tracey, always such a gorgeous welcome when we come to NYNY.
Seems to be the down and out venue of the village where all the turn downs from other venues end up. Smells unclean, has annoying ‘entertainment’ and is full of the wrong type of clientele. The drinks are far from cheap for what you’d expect in such a venue. The owner treats the staff terrible, I know a few of them and have heard their stories.
A fabulous bar in Manchester’s gay village. Always have a great time when I visit for a night out. The staff are brilliant, and the owner Tracey makes everyone feel welcome.
Regularly visit this venue and have done for many yrs. It's always an amazing night, fantastic atmosphere, amazing service, and a safe space to have some fun .
Local bar to me, it's alright nice staff etc. doormen are reasonable enough. The queueing outside can become irksome and be prepared to be banged into... A lot... On packed weekends.
Arrogant piece of work DJ. Requested a birthday announcement, told 2 mins... Nearly an hour and a half later we left without it. Thanks for ruining a special occasion
Dark and music was really really loud. Couldn't hear what anyone said. We sat in a booth only to discover a puddle of spit on the seat next to us so we left. The venue has a good vibe to it but not to my taste. Definitely has potential and we probably just went on a bad day. Not at all wheelchair accessible also. Has steep steps to get into and steps inside too.
I love Manchester Pride the whole vibe and it’s so lovely to see some familiar faces. We love Polly every year my sister and daughter excitedly look forward to seeing her. She never fails to get the crowd going. We love you Polly hope your knee mends. See you next year my love take care 🥰xx
love this place. barman is hilarious n goes out of his way to help people.hot drinks, lots of alcohol choices and a private area upstairs for parties n events.
Visited recently as a hen party for drag bingo & cabaret in the upstairs room and it was brilliant! Event was mainly full of hen party groups which was well organised, and the vibe was so much fun! Hilarious drag hosts including a surprise bit of cabaret from a Drag Race UK contestant. We had literally been there 10 mins and the party was immediately in full swing, with amazing music all night. Bar staff were really friendly and patient too, and drinks were good value. Would highly recommend for a great night!
Love it here, Tracy the owner is always so welcoming. Went in on Saturday celebrating my 40th birthday and she poured a celebratory shot for my friends and me 🥰 thank you for a great night!
The artisty of these acts are so underrated!Loads of fun and games. Won't spoil it for those that haven't been. However the last act, was so poignant and heart felt it was amazing.. I cried it proper moved me.The rest of it was as mad as a box of frogs. The end though! Feels
We absolutely loved this place.Situated in the gay village just a stone's throw away from the canal is this pub. On the left is a small bar but there is ample seating. When myself and friends were there a drag queen was doing kareoke with the customers and cracking jokes. The atmosphere was so friendly. On the right is a large room with a massive bar and a stage. We had booked a drag show and bingo. Our show lasted about three hours and then the staff removed the tables and transformed the room into a night club.We absolutely loved it and can't wait to visit again.
Had an absolute blast at the Benidorm Bingo for my hen party. Tequila Thirst was such a fantastic host for the evening, we all had so much fun singing and dancing. Massive hats off to all the staff here for being legends and working their arses off. 10/10 would go again!
Loved the Drag stand up.She did an excellent job on an intimidating group of 20 lads for a friend's stag.Fun entertainment and was quite an intimate and small venue
We had such a great time there.Cocktails are delicious.Tracy was marvellous with us.And what a show with Michael.Thank you so much ❣️We will come back, for sure !
Love the happy hour and i did really like the karaoke just wish they didnt make us wait so long seemed like the drag queen that day didnt like me and my friend as others didnt have to wait
I had the best time. What a Queen 👑 in charge of proceedings. Have only given a 4 because I was too drunk to appreciate if it was a 5 or not. Can't wait to return to post a new review
Staff and atmosphere brilliant.. BUT sadly and this is not me being old , the music and the vocals from stage was FAR TO LOUD ,I've worked in the pub club industry may years and when the music is to the point it makes you feel disorientated and physically hurts to listen to its beyond the point of pleasure. I've been a couple of times before and the volume was definitely NOT that high . The party I was with all agreed.. people smoking outside said the same ..
Not really an LGBTQ safe space they just let any old scum bag in. Very tacky venue. This is the venue of last resort when punters get turned away from all the other venues.
I always have a memorable time here. Last week while in the toilets a drunk guy came in and dived head first into my urinal. He could of offered me a drink first like...Thankfully his friend came in with no top on and apologised, I swiftly left while the first man carried on puking in the second urinal. When I got back to my seat the man next to me got up to leave and knocked his drink over my mates shoes, he muttered "sorry" and left with his friends. At this point the floor was pretty sticky and I was having flash backs from Freshers week at uni so we decided to leave.
We were walking past and heard good music, we then went in and stayed the rest of our evening there, fabulous club with a fantastic drag act hostess. Soo funny and entertaining. Will definitely be back on our next time in Manchester xx
Used to be a regular haunt of mine in my youth. Decided to go back for old time sake and it did not disappoint. Had a cracking night. Staff were helpful and friendly, good acts on and reasonably priced drinks. Oh and the biggest disco ball I've seen what more could you want.
Fabulous place where everyone could be completely themselves!! Well worth securing yourself a booth by prepaying bar tab. The drag artiste was terrific, Kylie, Cher etc. The dancers blew my mind. What energy and stage presence. I will say that at 2am the unisex toilets were not for the faint hearted!
Constantly told by management not to dance??? Why bother having a dj if you need to sit down. Very strange set up and extremely rude staff! Far better bars around than this one!
Liked the quiet bar for a bit of a breather. Jukebox good touch but would of liked the volume a little higher as everytime the door opened it drowned out the music
The not so very cheap drag show is basically a bingo. Not worth the money, specially if you are seated in the "VIP area", downstairs, you cannot see a thing.
Great bar but be aware young woman putting poppers right up to your nose when they see you had a few to many drinks . So they can take your bag . Reported to door man didn’t seem to care . I felt very unsafe as a woman I would expect this from lord of places in Manchester put not your bar . Found this shocking and upsetting
Up market gay bar with adjoining but separate dance bar. Enjoy a drink and hear the conversation in the bar, or through the doors to busy, friendly dance club. Good range of drinks, draught, friendly staff and this makes for friendly crowd too! Been 3 times, never disappointed
We visited this club/bar as our first visit to the Gay Village. Staff weren't the most friendly, apart from the wonderful DJ who was playing classic tunes and incredibly smiley. Drink options were affordable, however non-alcoholic options limited and expensive. We did arrive at the scene quite early in the night and so the club itself was relatively quiet. We went on a Friday night around 10pm, and stayed for one drink in the end. I think we may have caught the club on a quiet night and with little going on!
Popped in here before a yelp event at urban cookhouse as we were a little early. Greeted by a friendly guy behind the bar. The place is very glitzy and...
Well what can i say I had my 37th Big Birthday Bash here. The DJ and music provided by Tracey was simply brilliant. Catered to all our needs. Kept us all...
Another hollowen night and another chance to go in costumethis time as cleopatra.Having been here before we all decided to try it againEntrance fee was...
