Prowler Soho, located in the heart of London's gay district, Soho, is much more than a typical gay sex shop. It's a cultural icon, reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of the gay community in the UK. Open since the 1990s, Prowler Soho has established itself as one of the largest and most inclusive gay-retail stores in the world.
One of the key aspects of Prowler Soho is its extensive product range, catering to a variety of tastes and preferences within the gay community. The store offers everything from an impressive collection of male sex toys and poppers to more highbrow items like comics, magazines, and indie-zines produced by local gay artists. This wide selection ensures that the store appeals to a broad spectrum of the community, not just those looking for traditional sex shop products.
Apart from retail, Prowler Soho is actively involved in the LGBTQ community, hosting events such as meet-and-greets and book signings. These events often feature notable figures ranging from calendar stars to respected authors, adding a layer of cultural richness to the shopping experience.
The store's location in Soho, a neighborhood known for its rich LGBTQ history, further adds to its significance. It's not just a place to shop but a destination where visitors can feel a sense of belonging and community. Prowler Soho's enduring presence in the area highlights its importance as a safe, inclusive space for the gay community.
I went to the Prowler Soho and Prowler RED last night, February 3, 2026, and when I looked at my Prowler RED receipt, I noticed that I got charged for two of the Prowler Magazines at 20 quid each and was only given one, which I did not ask to purchase. The cashier scanned it (twice, apparently), put it with the other stuff I was purchasing, and said that "there's no charge" for it, so I was like "ok, whatever, stores sometimes throw in their magazines or catalogues when people buy stuff."The exact same thing happened to me at this location, Prowler Soho, so I'm assuming I also got charged 40 quid I didn't ask to spend. However, I can't confirm that I was double charged for the Prowler Magazine there because I was not given an itemized receipt. The real kicker? The Prowler Magazine was supposed to have a 20-quid-off voucher for the next purchase, but -- surprise, surprise -- both of the ones I got had already had the voucher removed. This makes me question if the employees are double-charging for the magazines to boost the company profit and keeping the vouchers for themselves.I understand that the voucher essentially makes the magazine free, but it's extremely uncalled for to force it on someone, double charge, and then not actually provide the voucher. If I had only been charged the 20 quid for one magazine at each place, whatever. But 40 quid when I'm only getting 20 quid worth of product (at least at Prowler RED, again, I was not able to confirm if this was the case at this location) is not okay, especially if the same thing happened at this location. If it happened at both locations, that's 80 quid I'm out.I more than likely will not be returning to either of the London Prowler locations, nor would I recommend anyone else visit if they ask for my recommendation. On the bright side, the staff was helpful and answered my questions.
Bought 5 items in the store one of it was a XL shorts and the day after (less than 24h) I went to the store to exchange it (was a SHORTS not underwear) and the manager said they don’t do any exchanges. I didn’t use it even try it (and to remind it was a SHORTS not underwear) if it was a underwear I could understand but shorts 😒.Spent more than £100 and by the way the quality is REALLY BAD for the high prices in the items.Really BAD QUALITY and -1 client from now.
Had the great misfortune of popping in here this evening to purchase some essentials, only to be greeted by a member of staff who served me like I was asking for a kidney. Miserable, devoid of a personality and gravely unaware of the protocol around basic customer service skills. I’ve had colds that were more appealing and welcoming.UPDATE (in response to the business reply and to correct factual inaccuracies):My original review did not mention waiting, delays, or service speed. I waited without complaint and there was no discussion about waiting at any point. The only interaction I had with staff was stating what I wished to purchase and paying for it. There was no confrontation, no complaint raised in store, and no hostility.A friend who was with me witnessed the exchange and made the same observation regarding the staff member’s blunt and unwelcoming manner. That, and only that, was the reason for the review. Also worthy of a note - there was another gentleman stood next to me, who was there first, and when the rude member of staff came through to the back - I asked the gentleman if he was waiting to be served and did he want to go first (he declined). Thus proving my point that waiting was not the issue.Reframing this as a patience issue or suggesting hostility on my part is inaccurate. The concern remains unchanged: the interaction was unwelcoming and rude, and the response here appears to defend that behaviour rather than reflect on it.If you're going to respond to reviews, at least have all the facts without making them up to justify the response.
Went to Prowler Soho this morning to look for a novelty mug. Sadly they did not have what I was looking for, disappointed but the very cute assistant made up for my disappointment. Prowler 4 stars, assistant 6 stars...
went in yesterday, a very friendly and knowledgeable guy with a ginger beard and glasses, helped me pick out an item. Place is a bit pricey, but so must their rent be, and the help I got was well worth it.
Prowler Soho has been my go-to store in London for years, and it never disappoints. The shop offers an incredible range of products, from everyday essentials like lubrication to unique gifts and treats. Their selection of underwear is always stylish and sexy, and the variety of fantasy and role-play items means there’s always something new to discover. It’s a place where you can find both the practical and the playful, all under one roof. What I love most about Prowler is the atmosphere. The staff are relaxed and never intrusive, letting you browse at your own pace, which makes the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. There’s never any sense of pressure, and instead, you feel welcomed the moment you step inside. After 15 years of shopping here, I can honestly say it has always been a safe, fun, and inviting space—a true Soho gem that continues to deliver.
It was my first time in shop like this. I wanted to buy a new set of briefs. Sadly, as a AFAB plus size person nothing really fitted me, so I ended with two new pairs of socks. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they’re got little disappointed with fact, that their plus size products doesn’t really fit on plus size afab person…it was very heartwarming. thank you so much for support and help.
Went to buy a birthday gift for a friend, a cookbook priced £9.99 and was told I couldn't pay by card as all transaction needed to be above £10... Both the Sales Assistant and Manager confirmed this... what a joke! For the sake of 1p... you lost a sale... and in all fairness I was going to get something else too, but left as this was not the way to treat customer
Nice store. Good stock. Very rude short lady who worked there today. Too much attitude and spoke down to everyone who asked her a question. Not welcoming at all or helpful at the til. Threw stuff at us. Make us feel like shop lifters.
Great spot! Staff is awesome. Answered all questions. Super chill and patient. Even helped me find a product they didn’t have but another store did nearby.
I went to browse around on my visit to London this weekend. The member of staff was friendly and helpful and recommended me some items. The store is easy to get to being in central soho. If you want to buy but don't want to pay the prices go on their website as they sale it cheaper.
Yes, I agree about the poppers being of poor quality. That happened to me also and stopped buying from them. The corner store poppers are probably better than theirs. Stay away
Extremely poor quality poppers. The last time I ordered was to give them a chance to redeem themself and prove that j might be wrong about their poppers quality but I was right.I will not purchase again and would rather order from Europe. Shame on you prowler !!!!!
This store is fantastic. They've got a great selection of products, and the customer service is top-notch. I had a question about one of the items, and the staff member I talked to was super helpful and knowledgeable. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.
Just popped into the store this evening. Was greeted by staff member. I then went down stairs to check out some products I'd seen online. There was no staff in the lower portion of the store so so I just googled info on the products I was looking at. I must have been down there 10-15 minutes on my own. I finally selected a product having read up on it. I mean what was I meant to do? Run upstairs wafting a fleshlite at a member of staff? I also grabbed a bottle of poppers off the shelf to go with my purchase. Went up stairs to pay and met what I presume was the manager. Having seen the poppers with my new toy began to have a hissy fit at me.I shouldn't help myself to his precious poppers, how dare I go beyond the till point. Well if he really cared about protecting his precious ring you would think he could have waddled down stairs and gave me some assistance. I presume that's one of his roles. He was frustrated and then carried on trying to chastise me. I asked if he would like me to go back and return it. He said no and at that point I went to the till point to pay. He then trotted of to the security bay, I presume. He looked like he was sucking a lemon 🍋Very disappointed with his awful attitude. Never experienced that before in this store. The lady who served me was great. She witnessed the whole thing. It's good that we were cool with each other and she made the experience less embarrassing. The other one is unhinged and maybe needs to think about how he
Beware that there is a ZERO refund policy. I bought a card for a friend's wedding and found my partner had bought exactly the same card an hour later. Even though it was returned within an hour, with the plastic wrapping and price tag still on, I was told they do not refund under any circumstances. Underwear, sex toys I can understand. But greetings cards - be reasonable guys! If it was a pound or two ok but it was £3.95.
I was here by myself and I asked the manager for some help and some advise on nice friendly gay places to go on a Saturday night, he was fantastic extremely friendly, very chatty…. Spent the time to offer me advice which was great ☺️ also bought some things and I’m really happy with them…. Great shop, great staff, great products, great vibe!!! 🩷☺️
If you’ve tried the rest (and even if you haven’t) these guys ate the best! When you can sometimes get the same products from different places, customer service really counts and here, they always exceed my expectations and go the extra mile with a smile.Products always arrive on time and safelyToby is an asset to the company!! Thanks
Popped into the store just before Christmas and picked up a couple of bits...if you intend to do the same, it's definitely worth checking the prices on the website before purchasing in-store. The store offers you a chance to check out the products but when one product in store is double the price than on the website - save yourself some money and buy online.
Great store and service in particular from who I think was the Assistant Manager (I think Mark was his name sorry if I remember it wrong) he was friendly, smiley and super willing to help. We had a nice chat and I think he’s a great asset to the store
Just bought 3 t shirts with them. The “girl” at the cashier “forgot” to remove the security tags. When I was back there the other blond guy was smiling and making fun of it…. Horrible experience and CUSTUMER service 👎🏽
So firstly no internet so they asked for cash. We offered cash but it was refused as it was a Scottish Bank note. Very disappointed. The note was clearly marked Sterling. Assistant Manager shrugged off saying he was just following company precedure. Poor service. Scottish people avoid.
This is a really great shop with a fantastic selection of products. Some fun gifts to be had in here, as well as plenty of choice if you want to treat yourself. Prices are good too.
Although i haven't visited the store...yet...I can't fault their customer service with my online order. When an item was missing it was found at another store and sent.No issues at all and I look forward to my store visit soon. 🐶🐾
I’m absolutely confused as to how a central London store has implemented a minimum £10 card limit in 2023? The news agents don’t even implement that anymore. Nobody carrier cash - and I don’t want to buy other stuff just to meet some arbitrary amount set that has no operational difference.
Had a nice half hour browsing today. Glad they found an opaque bag for my purchases!! Haven’t been in there for many years but I’ll be back again soon.
Very wide range of clothing etc. in the front and adult items in the second room. Staff were polite enough - I didn't have quite as enthusiastic an experience as some other reviewers though in fairness it was a quick visit.
Such a great shop with excellent customer service. Agnetas, the manager, is a wealth of knowledge and was kind enough to answer all our questions and make informed recommendations.
A great store that has so much to offer in terms of choice. The store staff is really friendly and helpful. They have a huge selection of underwear, clothing and men's toys. I am amazed by the variety they offer. Will definitely return to the store.
Always great to shop here. New clothes in all the time and staff very helpful (and good looking). Thanks to Agnetas in particular for helping me on every visit. See you all again soon I hope x
World class shop! Everything in there is great and the staff are so friendly ! Even gave us some freebies as it was our honeymoon ! Would visit again !!
Worked up the courage to come here, a welcoming place with no judgment. The blonde cashier was especially helpful when I was deciding which poppers to buy
Not only the staff is friendly and helpful, the prices are fair too. They even give for free an issue of Prowler ! It costs £10 pounds BUT they give a £10 discount on it on your receipt, making it free. It is worth going and making an opinion for yourself. I'll definitely visit the store again !
Charged £10.00 for a magazine that I didn't ask for! The sales guy said it was an offer for my purchases as he stuffed it into my shopping bag - It's an old issue from 2018! I am really annoyed as I am sure they will not give me a refund as it states on their receipts nothing will be exchanged or refunded.
Always very friendly staff when I visit. Clean place, well stocked, also pretty cheap prices in comparison to other shops in the area for the same product! Always a happy customer, even if I come in for a quick browse. Friendly, helpful and efficient 😀
Nice bright store with something for everyone although the products suggest a focus on gay men. Loads of books, underwear and adult entertainment products along with some interesting and alternative bits and bobs for the home and the night club.
This is undoubtedly the best shop for gay men in London. The front part of the store stocks a wide variety of literature and coffee-table books, DVDs...
