Conveniently located near the General Osório metro station, this gay sauna provides a variety of amenities designed to help guests unwind. For those looking to ease tension, Rio G Spa offers several massage options, such as a blend of Swedish and Shiatsu techniques, as well as body-to-body massages that promote deep relaxation. With its clean environment and friendly staff, Rio G Spa has become a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
The place is nice and relatively clean (all saunas get messy after too much action, the mattresses at the rooms got grose). I've been there during carnival last days and the place got really busy, good for potential "matches", bad for sometimes not being able to move through the corridors, but I enjoyed it and prefer full as opposed to empty. There was a mix of guys ages and bodies, prob a good fourth being good looking. The star I removed there is because of the bar: one of the guys working there last Friday and Sunday (the one that took the orders) size you up like you're a criminal when you place orders, looking at you in a weird way somehow, confirms 5 times what you asked, tips things at the computer and asks again and tips some more, screams your order around some 5 more times, then takes his time to deliver your order. Other guys at the bar were nice, friendly and smiling. When I went to pay there were 2 waters on my bill I didn't order. Guy billing it asked the guy on the bar and he changed his demeanor, said he remembered me ordering and that I sure had taken it. I said ok, I won't cause commotion because of 2 waters and paid it. But how he accused me of trying to trick them, as well as how could he possibly remember me with a full house of guys coming and going I won't understand.Comparing to the other saunas I've been in Brazil and worldwide, this one scored just a bit above average.
Worst exit design and no space to walk into the dark area. Would expect better for being so close to the gay part of the beach. Dont go during busy times unless you want to wait an hour to get out. Workers were taking the sweet time to get people out
Rio G is the best bathhouse in Rio, for a number of reasons:1: the staff is friendly and ready to help with anything you need. The place is always clean, and equipped with fresh towels and slippers.2. Only a few steps from the gay beach, so it's a great option for those who can't host!!3. The men!!! As a local, I've met men from all over the world there, it's an amazing place to actually make some friends and have ~fun~ if you know what I mean.
Great proximity to the beach and the staff were welcoming and friendly. You get 2 towels and slippers. Additional towels are an added cost. The space is incredibly small. The darkroom felt like a coffin and had no furniture. Some of the couches had sand and dust from the beach on them.It was a fun experience and I’m glad I checked it out but entirely overhyped for what they offer, and I wouldn’t go back again.
I went on a Friday night and it was disappointing. The place is small, not very lively, and the crowd is mostly older, over 40, and out of shape. If you’re expecting to meet younger, fit people like the ones you see on the beaches of Rio, this is definitely not the place. Considering the price (R$99), it’s not worth it.
This is a great spot to wash off an afternoon at the beach and meet some of the guys you were checking out at Posto 8. Very clean and fun space. For the other gringos, all you need to know how to say is your shoe size (in EU sizes) and how to order at a bar. The rest you can figure out non-verbally 😉
This is a great sauna. The clerk at the entrance was very friendly and spoke English. He explained that we pay when we leave. We were given 2 towels, slippers, one condom each, and lockers. The place is very clean. We were there on a Sunday and it was very busy. There is a bar in the first floor, saunas on the 2nd floor, and the 3rd floor has a video room with great porno and cabins. I had fun in the video room and 2 guys took me to cabins for extra hot fun. When you leave, you pay the entrance fee (R98 on the weekend) plus any bar tab. I highly recommend this gay sauna.
Went here during my solo travel in Brazil. I must say that people are hot but language barrier is a challenge for me. If it gets busy, your have a little space in the locker area to change. Overall, I like it. I've been to saunas in North, Central and South America, Canada, Europe, Asia but I must say that the Brazilians are the hottest. ^_^
Positives:Friendly attentive staffVery cleanIncredibly hot clienteleNegatives:Very small and narrow to explore upstairs- layout could be better utilized. No ‘hygiene room’ facility
You pay 98 for entrance, which is kind of expensive. The sauna is cramped and really small. Language barrier is real with the locals since they speak 0 english. There is no Maze, just a dark corridor which you cant really walk through. And the rooms need more frequent cleaning, since some people dont douche before coming, it smells.
Very interesting how my review here from a few years ago mysteriously “disappeared”. Feb 2022 the man behind the front desk states I must have a COVID-19 booster to get into the spa. As if me being fully vaccinated already wasn’t enough. It was blatantly obvious that the establishment is racist, and they were just making excuses to not let in a black person to their spa. I’m surprised this business is still operating.
I’m visiting from the USA and it was awkward for me because I was in shocked! It was so freaking fun! I just wish I knew how to communicate lol. Any tips?
How can there be NO hot water in the showers????? This weekend all showers on all floors were cold. To charge $100 bucks a person you’d imagine you can get hot water everywhere. The steam room was also not hot.
A great place to go after the beach for fun and hot men. A variety of ages, mostly under 50. The place is well-maintained, has a bar and the staff couldn't be friendlier. I go everytime I'm in Rio.
Very surprising and unexpected interaction with the desk attendant. He basically accused me of trying to rip off the place because I chose to pay the Canadian option on the payment machine when prompted by my bank - even though it’s exactly the same it just shows the conversion rate for the consumer. He said “you’re in our country you pay our currency” - it’s the same payment it’s just a feature of the card to inform me of the currency exchange at the time of the payment, none of which is his business while I’m paying. FURTHERMORE he shouldn’t be looking at what I’m doing on the payment screen when I’m making payment decisions and inputing my password. He cancelled the transaction abruptly and charged me again all while making a scene. Normally I wouldn’t let this bother me but I had to wait in a huge, crowded line to leave because of how slow he was, in the heat, no one even had enough room to change their clothes, and then being scolded in front of a crowd of people for something so stupid was so rude and embarrassing. Currency exchange shouldn’t be an abstract and misunderstood concept at a tourist location, and they definitely shouldn’t be making a point to embarrass and reprimand a guest. It’s actually quite a shame, because it was an otherwise okay time. I just can’t get past how offensive that was. I would have probably gone a few times during this trip because my hotel is around the corner but I won’t be back now and I’ll be letting others know to stay clear as well. So rude.
Lovely guy at reception, very welcoming and spoke a bit of English too. Clean place, I was impressed and recommend a visit when staying in glorious Rio
Such a fun experience and a must do in Rio! Great crowd and very friendly staff. Steam room, dry sauna, bar, lounging areas and dark room/private rooms. Just overall excellent experience. I even lost my glasses there and the staff found them for me. Do not miss out on this gem of a place!
Small sauna by Ipanema beach, mixed crowd of locals and tourists, very popular on Sunday afternoon. 1st level lockers, steam sauna. 2nd level small bar, fitness machine, massage and dry sauna. The 3rd level is dedicated for video, cabins and dark room. The corridor is very narrow though, so when it gets crowded you can barely pass through. All the levels have showers which is a big plus! No attitude. Very friendly staff, they keep the place clean constantly. The location is perfect, lots of restaurants and cafes around after having fun, safe area. It's the best sauna Rio.
