Side Bar in Lisbon is a must-visit spot for the gay community and those seeking a vibrant, inclusive atmosphere in the heart of the city. Nestled on Rua da Barroca in the bustling Bairro Alto district, Side Bar is celebrated for its prime location on one of Lisbon's most famous queer corners. It's a place where the spirit of Lisbon's gay scene truly comes alive.
The bar offers a diverse array of cocktails in a setting that's both friendly and relaxed, making it an ideal spot for both locals and tourists to mingle and enjoy the night. The interior decor adds to the charm, creating an environment that's both welcoming and stylish.
One of the standout features of Side Bar is its non-stop, bustling vibe. It's a space where you can easily meet new people, soak in the local culture, and enjoy the lively atmosphere that Bairro Alto is known for. Whether you're looking to start your night with a bang or wind down in a comfortable setting, Side Bar caters to all.
The bar's popularity means that it can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, so it's advisable to arrive early. It opens daily from 6pm, extending its hours until 3am on Fridays, Saturdays, and eves of holidays, giving plenty of time for patrons to enjoy their night.
For those wanting to experience the heart and soul of Lisbon's gay nightlife, a visit to Side Bar is a must. It's not just a bar; it's a celebration of the city's vibrant gay community, a place where everyone is welcome, and every night is a potential adventure.
You are the dancing queen! Good queer bar. Lots of fellow tourists, however. Drinks were excellent, top notch. I loved the passion fruit drink I had. Lots of hanging out in the street here. Beware of the people trying to sell you drügz in the street however, it was a few working as a team — one straight up offered us, then his buddy came by later and started to try to “flirt” with us, was a little worried by this, kept my phone and wallet close.
A must stop. Very nice corner bar, friendly staff, small but everyone is out on the streets like other places around this area. Very crowded and great social scene.
Great spot to grab a drink in the middle of Barrio Alto, fun spot. We were here 2 years ago and had fun. This time the server/ bartender was so disengaged and miserable that we left without a second round. Hopefully next time there is someone else working.
SideBar was a decent bar in Lisbon but personally, I found the music a bit too loud and the decoration bordering on the tacky side of things. Having said that, one may argue that the decoration is part of SideBar’s charm. In terms of service, it was OK. We didn’t find it as quick as others in the area. I think SideBar is a good LGBTQIA+ bar in Lisbon for a quick drink and nothing more.
A bar with tacky, gay cliché decoration ... like in the past when we were young. Fun bar but if you expect the staff the same then you will be disappointed. Young guys, yes, but mostly on their phones and not really interested in entertainment and service (and I DO mean drinks only). But still a good choice to start the evening and watch terrified straight boyfriends entering with their bosomy girls.
Neon pink decoration, it's fun and the vibe around that area is great! All the bars are tiny in Bairro Alto, but a shout out to this Neon decoration! Nice for whoever likes posting on social media!
You are the Dancing Queen! Tiny, but gloriously camp bar with mirror-balls and music. The crowd spills into the street most nights of the week and mingles with the crowds spilling from other nearby queer venues.Side Bar, Rua da Barroca, 33. Bairro Alto. Open every day 18:00- 02:0 (03:00 on weekends)
Nice little bar to have a beer or two. Lovely mixed guests, but the service is really poor. The guys behind the bar couldn't be more bored.A word here and there or maybe even a smile while you collect your customers would be a good turn.
While visiting Lisbon we found this hidden gem where we could sit and relax, listen to music and take in some people watching. We enjoyed it so much we came back for more drinks. Definitely seek this bar out, good drinks and a real fun atmosphere.
Had an amazing time! It is the best bar to people watch. Sit by the window and the whole city walks by. The owners are wonderful and they make the best drinks! Went there two out of the three nights we were in Lisbon. Great fun!
One of the Best friendliest LGBT bar in Barrio Alto the heart of Lisboa, I've been here several times, very clean and friendly atmosphere and staff Very Nice and cool, hope to visit you again in near future.👍👍👍🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Avoid, avoid, avoid. Only One bar man here, with multiple people waiting. Long waiting times. The barman himself has to have given the worst attempt at service. Didn’t give me a full measure of alcohol. Abrasive and short with me. Overall, I didn’t want to drink here again.
I checked on google Before gone and saw some bad reviews but i had To check it by myself and i just cannot believe that people actually really had bad experiences there. The staff are very Nice and fun and cozy and friendly and lovely. The cocktails are simply delicious. The decoration is something unique that u definately never seen before and always with good music. I definetaly recomend and really want To come Back more times. Im really thankfull for this experience.
Quiet spot for a drink and people watching outside early in the night of Barrio Alto. Drinks are great with fresh everything. Definitely an LGBTQ-friendly spot, but welcoming of all - hence a very diverse crowd.
It was fine for a quick drink. Unfortunately we were the only ones in there so it lacked any ambiance. We sat in the window and watched the early evening revellers go by.
