Tucked away on the bustling Zeedijk street in Amsterdam, The Queen's Head, which first opened its doors in 1998, is much beloved for its eclectic mix of events, most famously its Drag Queen Bingo nights every Tuesday. These lively evenings combine humor, community, and the unique flair of drag performances to create an unforgettable experience for both locals and tourists alike.
The interior of The Queen's Head is as charismatic as its events, featuring a classic Dutch "gay bar" aesthetic with red wallpaper, chandeliers, and plush curtains, evoking a 1950s glam kitsch vibe. The bar offers a cozy backroom with romantic views over the canal, perfect for more intimate conversations or simply enjoying the scene.
Weekends at The Queen's Head are particularly buzzing, with live DJs spinning a mix of top hits and classic tracks that keep the atmosphere lively and welcoming. In addition to its regular events, the bar also hosts special occasions like the "Queens in Queen's" drag shows and biweekly gatherings for the bear community, ensuring that there's always something new to experience.
5 stars! Had an amazing experience at Queen’s Head Cafe for a birthday celebration. The service was exceptional, and Daniel made sure everything was perfect. He was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make it a special day. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the entire staff made us feel so welcome. Thank you for a memorable celebration—can’t wait to come back!
Now I understand why it's so popular and has such great reviews. Won't say anything about the rest of the places I visited on "the strip", but this was a highlight in Amsterdam! The service, atmosphere, drinks and eclectic crowd make this place what it's famous for!!
Cute little gay bar. Probably fun for a drag show. View of the canal. The aperol spritz was excellent. The area is extremely touristy but it’s probably quieter at night.
What an incredible spot! This gay bar in Amsterdam has a fantastic atmosphere with a great vibe. The drinks were top-notch, and the bartenders really know how to mix them up just right. The space is cozy but still has enough room to dance and hang out comfortably. Whether you’re looking to chill with friends or meet new people, this is the perfect place. Definitely recommend if you’re in the city and looking for a good time!
Price for beer is very expensive. Plan to spend around €20 for two .05 l of glass of beer. We felt we were overcharged. You cant take advantage of customers motvmatter what. Almost €10 for beer? Cone on.Small bar, cute but just too expensive for cheap beer. Too bad will never come back. Word of mouth will go out...US tourists
What a welcoming place. Came here to play drag bingo was so much fun. I came by myself and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. This is a must place to visit
We had such a fun time at Queen's Head. As tourists, we went early one evening, to enjoy being in a friendly environment. It was quiet, and that was just...
Great atmosphere and location with friendly handsome bar staff too. Drinks are priced very reasonably. DJs have always been playing a fantastic mix of old and new pop. Relaxed mixed crowd which I why I came back 3 nights in a row. Small, welcoming, and fun!
Hit and miss. I went on a Monday and had a great time with bartender Rob. Went on a Tuesday when there was drag bingo, and the bartenders were the worst....
The Queen’s Head is phenomenal! I attended their Tuesday night Drag Queen Bingo with some friends and had the best time. The Queen was hilarious and such a captivating performer. Tables must be reserved in advance, but the bar is first come, first served (arrive around 7pm for the 8:30pm show if you hope to snag a seat!). Once all of the bar stools are taken, it is standing room only. The bartenders (shout out to Kevin, Daan, and Tom!) were so kind and played the best music. 10/10 would recommend!
I was in Amsterdam for work and went to the Queen's Head to check out the Drag Queen Bingo. It had already started so I figured I'd just watch. It was quite...
The Queen’s Head was wonderful!! I had so much fun attending drag bingo. Everyone was so welcoming. The staff also helped me get home safely after my phone died. I’ll definitely return next time I’m in Amsterdam!
Really friendly, relaxed gay bar with good classic decor incl. glitter balls, disco lights in the daytime, pop music, candles, and a really nice vibe! Drinks are nice and not too pricey. 🏳️🌈🍻 Proost!PS, if you're looking to eat before your pint, I recommend Het Melkmeisje just on the corner across the bridge. Nice people, good food. 👍
Walked past and had to come in for a drink. One drink we said.... It turned into 6 and 8 games of bingo.Tom. The best barman in Amsterdam. So friendly and VERY handsome.QUEEN Tabitha is the most beautiful host. Intelligent, funny, gorgeous and got the whole bar partying!!This place is one of Amsterdam's treasures. Make sure you visit.
The best and friendliest bartenders ever are Tom and Mike! Make sure to ask for their infamous Amsterdam shot! They will tell you the name, just try to repeat it if you can’t speak Dutch. Honestly had the best time chatting with them. You must visit, all are welcomed but get ready to be tested on your music knowledge. 😝 Can’t wait for Tuesday for bingo night.Music is amazing,, ambience is amazing, drink ate too notch. If you want a great evening with friends and a great conversation sit at the bar and have a chat.We were looking for a dance floor but had so fun chatting with locals that we just stayed the night.Update: Bingo night was amazing! Had a blast with Skyla, Tom and Daniel!! Will be back next time I’m at Amsterdam!
I have randomly entered this gay friendly bar by accident. It looked normal from the outside even though it had a rainbow flag hanging from the outside. I went inside and ordered a drink. The bartender (with the earring) was friendly and he was definitely the main reason i came back for the second time. It was the first time i was in a gay-friendly bar and i am honestly enjoying the atmosphere from this bar a lot more than the previous normal bars i went to(even in different provinces) I went their twice so far and both times he was friendly and in my opinion the prices seems fair to most bars out there. I have ordered a jagermeister and limoncello and they were both filled up with ice cubes(if you wish) to the top instead of half way filled or in a shot glass. (You get a 9CL glass if i wasn't mistaken, just the normal drinking glass size). The bar itself may look small at his own but they do have a second room.. They do give out nuts once in awhile and they do have drag queens. The drink menu is down below. If you have never visited a gay bar this is definitely a good first-time experience (in my eyes). Please do keep in mind: They do NOT have a dark room. This is a friendly place to all kind of genders. No nudity.Everything what i have written here is not based off a different review and it's completely my opinion and thoughts. The reviews that i do write are completely honest and may either be good/positive or bad/negative feedback. Honestly goes along way and should shared with others no matter if they are good or bad.
