Myself and husband came in for a drink after having a day in Glasgow. This was a great time, great service, banter, and will definitely be coming back again.
Wow. What can I say about this place? We visited from across the pond, and this became one of our go-to bars. Not only do they open earlier than other gay bars in the city, they have an amazing bartender, Alison, who is fabulous. There’s also an adorable regular named David hanging about from time to time. Be sure to drop in and see Alison, and tell her two Americans sent you. 5 stars. Highly recommend.
Simple pleasures brought to you by the best of people. From Alison, the bar manager, to Christeen, the host and entertainment, and all the others who make The Waterloo such a friendly, vibrant and enjoyable place to be.
Went to the Waterloo and it looked like it was closed up tighter than a drum. We followed the instructions on google maps but couldn't find an entrance. Reading about this place I was excited about experiencing it but I guess not.
Tried to go inside when it was still open (according to google) and we were greeted by an awful woman who told us they were closed. Not a very good impression of the gay scene in Glasgow. Won’t be coming back ever again. The most unfriendliest city I have ever had the displeasure of stepping foot in.
Some regular accused me of stealing his pint. I had the same pint from when I walked in and my friend bought me one. Said the staff saw it too. Ended up giving the guy my almost-full pint to appease his aggressiveness. Too bad, was so looking forward to this place and it soured the experience. Just because some guy is a regular and I'm a lowly US tourist, does not mean I go around stealing pints.
If you haven't been here to see may miller while being jam packed in a bar you haven't lived. This was one of the best shows, and inclusive bars in glasgow I went to. I loved it here. Everyone is just here to have a good time .
Went here last week and the bar woman/bouncer was aggressive and refused to serve us and told us to leave. Refused to give a reason just adopted an aggressive stance and followed us outside growling at us. Ended up going to a couple of pubs on the bottom of hope Street instead and had a cracking night. Can't comment on food etc but the pub was dead and had a funky smell. About all I can review in our 2 mins we had before being rudely told to get out
I hadn't been here for a while..so I thought myself and partner would stop in. The barman looked so fed up ,and certainly no service with a smile. For our second drink, that he got wrong, he blamed my partner for it. He could see the first time what we had ordered, but brought us a totally different drink. No apology , just a very grumpy face. Very doubtful that I would come back here. There are many other pubs that welcome their customers with a smile.
placed an order for 2 wraps 3 halloumi and 2 peri chips . Order came quickly but noticed one wrap was missing. Phoned 3 numbers to get through to a worker from Nandos and asked him for the wrap that was missing he then proceeded to tell me I could only revived a refund and it would take 72 hours I told him i wanted the wrap and he hung up the phone. Terrible service WILL NOT BE ORDERING FROM HERE AGAIN
waterloo on friday is an actual relic.advertising a DJ that refuses to DJwon’t cater to the customers who actually request modern songs, will repeat play old songs… does someone need to hear the same abba song twice and the same celine dion song 4 times in 2 hours, when they won’t play the recent songs we request? NO!would be understandable if the clientele was responding, but if customers are requesting songs and you cut them off half way through the song because they’re different, why bother playing them at all? the fact they are customer requested means they are more welcome than yet ANOTHER abba song, that you’ll most likely repeat through the night.
Staff was very friendly and cheery 🙂 first time there. Nipped in for a few drinks before off to golf and was glad that was the pub we chose. Decent selection and prices good too 🙂
Normally Glasgow's best gay bar but the female bouncer is not a very nice person and treats people that she deems "not gay enough" terribly. Asked as I had been at a football match "what's a football fan doing in here anyway?" Because I'm gay. And a football fan. Shame as intolerance shouldn't exist in a gay bar.
Ear-splitting music on Friday night! Although their Wacky Wednesday afternoon was extremely fun and entertaining, we had to walk out after 10 seconds due to the (truly) deafening music volume on Friday night. And we were not the only onesThere is no reason to dial the volume up to the point where it becomes painful, and you can forget about chatting someone up. Save your hearing.Too bad. Don't go.
Called in at this bar whilst visiting Glasgow 27th February 2023.Only a few customers in the bar, but it was a Monday evening. But what a great crowd they was.Bar Staff and the owner very welcomingGreat prices. We will be back Wednesday 1st March for the Wacky Waterloo Fun Wednesday 👍
The patrons we're ridiculously friendly. It was my Wife's and my 5 anaversary and our last night in Glasgow and the guys at the table next to us chatted us up, danced with us and showed us a great time.
Just turned up and refused drinks by a very hostile lady. She refused to serve my husband stated he was to drunk. We had our cases with us as we were heading home, yes he'd had a drink but there was 3 people in there and it 4.30 in the afternoon your loss. Avoid the nasty lady and 1 star is not much for her.
Had a few drinks in here before traveling home. They had karaoke on. It was very busy. People were very friendly. I'll definitely be back. Had a great time.
When in town my wife and I Love going to the Waterloo bar very friendly and helpful staff and entertainment is fantastic especially robert and may Miller keep up the good work guys
Hi water loo fab place to have a drink and listen to Robert and may Miller great day oot and good music cheers to bar staff as well they kept drink flowing
Good selection of drinks at reasonable prices, great attentive hard working staff as always, and usual fine mix of revellers and regulars as well as May and Robert Miller on a Saturday afternoon...whats not to like ?.
I've never entered the premise but I have a lot of friends who tell me its a great night out great atmosphere for everyone. Lots of laughter plenty of Banter if that's what your After lol. 😷
Very welcoming, original, homely pub at the heart of Glasgow. Older crowd. Had a couple of Sunday afternoon drinks, and enjoyed some seriously Karaoke performances.
Popped in for a quick drink, with my wife and daughter, on the way to somewhere else, it was bouncing, and it was a Wednesday night, brilliant atmosphere, we ended up popping back in on the way home for a couple more 👍
Went there on Wacky Wednesday and it was a hoot! Games including bingo, and a variety of competitions kept everyone laughing! Karaoke is also on the menu so be ready with your pipes! This LGTBQ place has a good crowd of regulars, who are very welcoming!
Love love love this pub one of the best in Glasgow entertainment class staff can't do enough for you and customers well what can I say it is Glasgow and Glasgow is the best place ....looking forward to next time xx
Had the best time here for my friends birthday traveled from Aberdeen people do friendly and may and husband were fab on sat afternoon be bk next year Waterloo bar
Went upto Glasgow yesterday from Manchester to watch erasure was made to feel very welcome in this pub and later when was a few of us before heading to the gig they put an erasure mix on for us to have a sing sing . Great pub
Myself plus 3 friends vent in on Saturday 14th August to see Robert and May Miller place was mobbed we had to stand at bar door steward was tall scruffy looking guy smelling of hash. He kept marching up and down the pub and kept bumping into my friend who is only small, till about the 4th time she said excuse me and asked his name!He said thats it you have been causing trouble all day grabbed her drink right out her hand and threw us all out shouting your barred. I have never been so humiliated in all my life. I dont even drink we were lucky if been in 45 mins and my friend he bumped was so upset. When asked for manager she was on her break. Surely when pub is mobbed that cant be when you choose to have a break.
Definitely my favourite bar in Glasgow, we like to start our night off in the Waterloo...head for a meal in the Merchant City then head back to finish off our nigh in the Waterloo, the staff are amazing from the door steward to the cheerful bar staff. NEVER A BAD ATMOSPHERE 💖💖
Great place to go been going for years but what a transformation the new owner Bobby has done since taking over a few years back. Staff very friendly and entertainment great especially at the weekend it's a Gay bar but straight ppl do go as is great atmosphere HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
