Looking for a dive bar with a fabulous twist? Look no further than Zum Schmutzigen Hobby, a Berlin institution that's equal parts local hangout and wild queer haven. Run by the legendary Nina Queer, this spot oozes with a schlocky-fabulous charm that's guaranteed to get you grinning.
Expect a mixed crowd – you'll find the coolest cats of the Berlin LGBTQ+ scene rubbing shoulders with international celebs (think Rupert Everett!), lost tourists, and the city's resident hipsters. The atmosphere is anything but pretentious – think friendly, easygoing vibes where everyone feels welcome.
The bar itself is a former fire station, and the décor keeps the quirky factor cranked up to eleven. Think comfy armchairs perfect for pre-game drinks, with surprises lurking around every corner. But this ain't just a looker – Zum Schmutzigen Hobby throws themed nights, drag shows, and dance parties that will have you busting a move until the wee hours.
Whether you're a local or just passing through, Zum Schmutzigen Hobby is a must-visit for an unforgettable Berlin night. Just be prepared to embrace the weird, wonderful, and unapologetically queer.
Judy Ladivina’s Tell Mama is by far the best drag show in Berlin. Highly recommended for locals and visitors who want the most uplifting, warm and fabulous experience.
In town for a visit to check out queer bars but the male bouncer at the entrance was very rude and authoritative when I simply and politely asked if I could go in alone to have a look. Not cool at all. Bar Schmuckzigen..
The place is nice and we were warmly welcomed. The questions asked at the entrance have me wondering why there is such a need to filter people. I haven't experienced this in other queer venues, whether in Berlin or elsewhere in the world. It made me feel unsafe at first (but I understand the purpose is the opposite).
This place is absolutely horrendous. The bouncers were rude and violent and would discriminate against foreigners. I would never recommend this place, it's a shame it gives Berlin such a bad name.
Great music and atmosphere. But the bar tenders are a bit slow and my friend got rob this jacket and bag pack because he leave them on a table and not on the wardrobe. Just take care of your things. There are no cameras inside the dance floor so management cant help if you get rob.
It is a shame that you get to pay to enter this bar, while some time ago you could just enter for free. Tiny dance floor that gets super crowded, bad DJs that play Spotify Playlists and expensive cocktails. The drag shows on Wednesdays (15€) are repetitive and boring, and of course super crowded. Racist and rude bouncer.
We went here spontanously and I had three bottles of juice in my backpack as we just came from a home party. The bouncer was really cool - I could park the bottles at the entrance and took them with me when we left 🙂 My friend had some forks and spoons in his backpack. The bouncer asked : any knives? My friend said :“no“. We got in 😀 They played mainly pop music (many older songs) when I was there on a Friday (Britney Spears, lambada). They have a little dance floor where it gets quite hot quickly, benches in and outside. A big dislike for the fact that smoking is allowed inside 🙁 If you looking for a place to have some drinks, don’t wanna see fights and dance a little without having to spend 20 euros just for the entrance: GO HERE!
This was a great night out! It was refreshing to go somewhere that was a little smaller and not techno. The venue was funky. Nice and intimate without...
The scene was decent (middle school hits), until I tried to dance on the platform by the DJ, which I like to do. The DJ didn't let it happen. He grabbed my...
The new location in Friedrichshain (RAW grounds) surely is an improvement in terms of heading out to other places afterwards. The new interior design is...
