D‘haus Central is a location of the Düsseldorf Theatre (Schauspielhaus). The entrance feels a bit hidden yet it is the door behind the big sign, just next to the bus terminal. You need to go up to the second floor where you enter via the information desk room. You can buy tickets online or at the theatre chashier in the Dusseldorf Theatre (the white building with round shapes in the city centre). At Central there are two stages (kleine Bühne and grosse Bühne). Both can be entered from the room left of the info desk room. There is also a little bar and waiting area. The doors to the stages open only a few minutes before the play begins. It is fee seating inside and the tickets are controlled upon entrance to the stages. The washrooms are on the rights side from the info desk. You can always ask the staff about the scheduled length of the play and time of the break. It is all very modern and clean facilities and very friendly people working here. Enjoy!

The Central is about 300 meters from the main train station and is therefore very easy to reach by public transport. From 2016 to 2019, it served as the main venue during the renovation of the Theater am Gründgen Platz. Since summer 2025, the Young Theater and the Stadt:Kollektiv have found a new home here in the heart of the city. Old rehearsal stages were converted into theater spaces for this purpose. I visited Central 2. With its benches for the audience, the space feels almost cozy and is certainly very pleasant. The entrance and the glass bridge over Worringer Straße have also been redesigned. During my visit, I found these areas rather empty and unused. They need to be brought back to life. The play WAR AND PEACE demonstrated how this can be achieved. And I hope that a small café will also be open after the performances on Friday and Saturday evenings. The location of the house almost inevitably brings two things with it: Firstly, there are practically no parking spaces. If you're from Düsseldorf, no problem. There's public transport. If you're coming from outside the city, you'll have to use a parking garage. Secondly, we're in the station district, and we'll encounter people who are very friendly, and people who have good reasons not to be so friendly. Overall: Let's see how it all develops. Fingers crossed.

We saw War and Peace at this theater for the first time and were absolutely thrilled. The stage setup, with the audience positioned to the right and left, was refreshingly different. The performance was truly masterful. Not a single dull moment, despite the five-hour show. We even enjoyed a delicious meal during one of the two intermissions. The acting of every single performer was magnificent. At one point, I felt like I'd known them all for ages. A fantastic production! Thank you so much for the wonderful entertainment!
