Cafe Mor Kedi

Such a nice night in here on an Istanbul trip with friends. It was a strangely quiet night, so the owner came and sat at our table and we had some really nice laughs. The snacks to accompany our drinks just kept coming! Much love and respect for the warm community welcome, from us in Denmark!!!

Terrific evening cafe bar with friendly service and enthusiastic gay customers. Inexpensive - 300 TL for a pint of beer. Attached photos show the atmosphere. Turkish party music rather than gay classics. From street level follow the rainbow stairs up three levels (past Thai restaurant on first level then two more). Will be back

If you are expecting a US/EU-style experience, you’ll be disappointed, but please keep in mind what country you’re in. I stopped by on an early wednesday evening around 7pm and found it to be quiet but friendly, and plan to come back on a busier night. As wonderful as a place like Istanbul is, I think you know that finding a safe place where you can be yourself is a major bonus worth the search. It is a bit difficult to find if you don’t know where to look, but just follow the faded rainbow stairs up to the floor above Doğuş Market and push to open the unmarked door on that floor that you’ll probably hear loud music behind. If you are walking on creaky wooden steps, you’ve gone too far.

Fun little bar/cafe. Kinda confusing to get there. Go up 2 floors after you pass the restaurant. Keep following the pride stairs. The is no “bar” more a cafe set up. The waiters were very nice and attentive. The food was surprising really good . We split the curry chicken and fries and it filled us both up (waiter suggested to share).

I can't understand some of the previous reviews which are often incorrect or don't appreciate the difficulties in operating a Gay venue in Turkey. I have been in Istanbul for over a week and been to Mor Kedi most nights. The price for a beer has been the same every time 300TL. The staff and locals are very friendly - even getting me up to dance with them last night. A great place to relax when not busy and great when busy - a joy to watch the traditional Kurdish dancing. Forget about what you expect from a Gay bar in your own country and just enjoy the place!!
