Methodology
The index counts WhereIs.Gay records marked published and excludes listings currently flagged as permanently closed, temporarily closed or moved. A city market is a unique city-and-country combination.
Categories use the listing's primary category and are normalised into broad groups such as Bars, Dance clubs, Saunas and Cruise clubs. Directory data is continuously audited, so counts can rise or fall as venues are added, corrected or closed.
This dataset should not be used to infer the total size of an LGBTQ+ population, the safety of a destination, or the overall quality of its nightlife. Coverage varies by market and reflects the current state of the WhereIs.Gay directory.
