About Candy Darling

Candy Darling, nestled near Plaça de la Universitat in Barcelona, is a vibrant queer bar that has become a cornerstone of the city's LGBTQ+ nightlife since its opening in September 2019. The bar's name honors Candy Darling, the iconic transgender actress from Andy Warhol's Factory, reflecting its deep roots in queer culture and activism. Inside, Candy Darling boasts an eclectic decor featuring various pieces of queer art, including murals and installations that create a unique and inclusive atmosphere. The spacious interior offers cozy lounge areas with plush sofas, providing the perfect setting to unwind with friends. The bar serves a selection of savory small plates, such as their signature 'bikini darling'—a toasted ham and cheese sandwich with creative twists like the Pastrami Queer, Naturist, and Versatile. Candy Darling is renowned for its diverse entertainment lineup, hosting regular drag shows, circus acts, and burlesque performances that keep patrons engaged and entertained. For those looking to dance, the Wild Room offers a pocket-sized disco experience that's not to be missed. Beyond its role as a nightlife venue, Candy Darling serves as a safe haven for the LGBTQ+ community, fostering a sense of queer freedom and expression. Its commitment to providing a welcoming space for all is evident in both its ambiance and the diverse crowd it attracts.

Great gay bar, although more visited by men than women. But cool vibe in general. We only stayed for drinks, which were made professionally by the bartenders. Good prices for cocktails and drinks. 🍹

My new favorite bar in BCN. Interesting rough space and Nice mixed crowd: it was good to see all genders and age groups coming along well together. The theme nights like flamenco must be fun. Now the music was quite low so not possible to dance.

Really nice atmosphere with cool decoration. Lots of options for drinks and chupitos. You may need to go early to find space for yourself because after a time there is a long queue

It's best to go here when there are fun events. The shows are usually really fun. NOTE: Unfortunately it's hard to breathe here sometimes, even though vaping is not legal in a bar, they let everyone do it. So get ready to breath in some sugar cotton candy chiffon flavor plastic oil. Also, but this has been said a million times, the bartenders really have no interest in serving you drinks. So do what others do and just hangout, sniff cotton candy fumes and then go somewhere else.

I don’t ever review clubs but my dear traveling queers, go to this bar! Really good inclusive vibes with music that is not your typical gay bar music- not pop, not basic house, not circuit- it’s good club music that keeps the vibe energetic yet still sociable. The expensive cocktail drinks are large. No cover when we went
