Cosmos Club Bologna

Be warned that you need nonsense membership that is €17 to then pay for entrance fee and then eventually you can go in. That's at least 15 minutes at the door, trying to scan your passport and create membership that is not needed for anything. So I don't understand their business model, why they don't want tourists come, have good time and spend money supporting gay bars in Italy. That is few hundreds euros lost straightaway.

Of the two Saunas in Bologna, this is the worse one. It seems like it has not been cared for or and the owner clearly does not care about making it a pleasant experience for guests. There is Wi-Fi, but guests are not allowed to access it. In addition, the ventilation is bad. The bathroom is directly next to the whirlpool but the guests are NOT allowed to open windows in the bathroom to allow it to air out -- the air circulation is terrible and it stinks. A terrible experience. Also -- very few guests, but that may have been due to the time I was visiting (Tuesday night).

This sauna is about a couple of hundred yards from Bologna station. It is quite difficult to find as the entrance is in the courtyard of a large building opposite the Europa Hotel. You enter the pedestrian gate on the left-hand side and walk down that side of the courtyard and you will see a green lit bell which is the entrance to the sauna. The sauna is on the ground and lower ground floors. The ground floor contains the changing area, smoking room some restrooms, an additional sauna and a video room. The bar serves alcoholic and soft drinks as well as food. Downstairs there is the sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, Video Cinema and various restrooms. The premises were quite clean on my visits and the staff are also very kind and attentive apart from the owner of the sauna who can be a little unwelcoming. The sauna does not belong to the Andoss scheme but you do have to have a membership. This gives the management the opportunity to extract more money out of the occasional visitor. Entry fee is €17 with an additional €5 for the annual membership. The clientele are mainly older men with a few youngsters (mainly commercial!).  I visited on a recent Monday and Tuesday in the mid-afternoon and left about 7pm. On both occasions there were only about 10 persons in attendance. On previous visits at weekends, I have found the place much more busy.

Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! They charge double entrance fee, one called ticket and one called forced membership that means nothing and gives you nothing.
