Request data deletion

What can be deleted

• Ratings and reviews submitted in the app, including review text, any name you provided, and the random installation identifier stored as a one-way hash to reduce duplicate submissions.
• Nearby searches use a location-derived search area to return results. The app does not keep location or searches as history. Optional anonymous analytics are off by default and, if enabled, do not include search text, precise location, or saved places.
• Personal information submitted through the website, including venue-owner or listing requests.
• Saved places are stored only on your device and are never uploaded to us. Remove them from Saved in the app, or clear the app data or uninstall the app.

We use the details you provide to find the relevant records and delete or de-identify information under our control. We do not set an additional fixed retention period for deletion requests. We may retain limited information where needed for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention purposes, only for as long as needed for those purposes.

How to request deletion

Email hello@whereis.gay with the subject “WhereIs.Gay data deletion request”. Include the venue or submission involved and the name or email address you used, if any. Do not include sensitive information that is not needed to identify your request.
