About Ensen Onsen

Ensen Onsen brings the polished end of Bangkok''s gay onsen boom right into the city centre, only a short walk from MRT Sam Yan and within easy reach of Silom gay nightlife. The men''s bathhouse is compact rather than sprawling, built around a Japanese-inspired hot mineral pool of around 41°C, steam sauna and changing facilities, with an upstairs bar/lounge and additional private onsen and massage services. Towels, robes and the little details of the bathing ritual give it more of a wellness-club feel than an old-school sauna maze. That makes Ensen a good fit for LGBTQ+ travellers who want a gay sauna in Bangkok without committing to a huge cruising complex. The crowd is largely Thai, the location is exceptionally convenient, and the atmosphere sits somewhere between urban onsen, social club and discreet men''s meeting place. The smaller footprint will feel intimate to some and cramped to others, so come for the central location and refined bathhouse experience rather than acres of dark corridors. If your ideal Bangkok gay night starts with steam and a soak before heading into Silom, Ensen is almost absurdly well placed.

What to expect

Expect a compact, polished Japanese-style men's bathhouse rather than a huge traditional sauna. The hot pool, steam and lounge are the focus, with private onsen and massage also available.

Review is for the food and facilities: The locker room felt hectic. The space is a little tight when even two people need to access lockers in a single section, but this is probably more due to it being Songkran (and therefore busier than normal). The lighting in the onsen / spa area is a darker, warmer color than depicted in the current photos. Maybe a step or two lighter than what you’d see at Orange Theory fitness. As a result, the space was more relaxing than expected. It would have been nice to have the door between the steam room and showers operational; it would reduce foot traffic and keep the onsen area more tranquil. We ordered two buta (pork) don bowls. Pretty tasty! There was also free ice cream and sticky rice available. As mentioned on other reviews, there was only one massage chair. But it’s the kind that envelopes you completely and makes you feel safe and loved.

My first time experience as a singaporean, visited here at 6pm today was awesome, I enjoyed my 90 mins massage + onsen 💪🏻☺️ totally worth it. Tawan’s massage skill has a great strength.

I came on a weekday and they were having an event from 8-9pm. Basically the place was empty until 7:30-8pm when suddenly everyone got there and it got quite busy but then most people left by 9pm. There were maybe thirty people, all locals, on the younger side, average to below average fitness. The facilities are nice and spacious and the layout of the steam room and upstairs area is actually better than most other onsens, I have no idea why other reviews are complaining about this. However, the price has gone up unfortunately.

Came on a weekday 6pm, less than 5 people and when I left at 730, there were probably 15-20 people. Mostly Thai, average to skinny fat body type and they look like middle age 30+ years old. The dressing area is blinding bright with the white overhead light that feels like in an office. The upper floor where the maze and the chase areas are also brightly lit that makes the place bizarre and uncomfortable for any action. And there’s only one massage chair which is sad and lonely. The management need to reconfigure the space to make it more cruisy and cozy, have more dim and warm lights and more areas to chill. The steam room good with strong steam and maze layout and that’s where most actions happen as the upper floor maze is dead cold. 250thb for entry is the cheapest in the area but just low price won’t keep the doors open, make this place fun not sterile.

I had a very disappointing experience at this spa. What is advertised as a spa is, in reality, a small pool and a small steam room. The overall atmosphere is uncomfortable: the showers are cold, and the air conditioning is blasting everywhere, making it hard to relax. One positive aspect worth highlighting is that this spa clearly serves as a welcoming space for the Asian community, and I genuinely believe places like this are important and should exist. That said, as a non-Asian/foreigner, I personally felt quite disconnected, with very little engagement or interaction, which made the experience uncomfortable for me. This is not necessarily a flaw, but it would be helpful if this was communicated more clearly in advance so expectations are aligned. I strongly do not recommend the massage. It is expensive and extremely poor in quality. The masseur’s touch felt unintentional and mechanical, with no sense of technique, or passion. It did not feel professional and was absolutely not worth the price. Overall, the experience is far too expensive for what is offered, with no clear justification for the cost. To be fair, the person at the front desk did try to handle the situation professionally and offered a discount. I appreciate the effort, but unfortunately the experience itself was so disappointing that I have no intention of returning. I am sharing this review so others can make an informed decision before booking.
