About Flamingos Dance Bar

Flamingos Dance Bar was one of Hobart's few dedicated LGBTQ+ nightlife venues, operating from the High Altar space on Murray Street. Its late Friday and Saturday sessions mixed dancing, drag and a proudly queer crowd. The venue has permanently closed and Hobart currently has no dedicated queer bar. This listing is kept as an archive so travellers do not mistake older online references for a venue that is still operating.

This bar was fine, though being the only gay bar in Hobart I was expecting more. I don't think the cover charge is warranted, I arrived at 10:30pm on a Saturday and there were only 2 other people at the bar.

The best and the only gay club in Hobart. We had such a great time; will try to stay until the end of he night next time we visit. Decor and atmosphere were fantastic! Will definitely be back. :)

Friendly staff, inclusive atmosphere, good mix of music that’s danceable. Special nights and cover charges from $5-$15. Smoking area out back and balcony for romantic liaisons upstairs...

Who would have thought Hobart could provide such high class drag bingo!?! This bar is everything I love in a gay bar. Awkward lay out, great staff, sticky floors after 1130pm. Great tunes and fabulous queens!!

This place is so wonderfully welcoming. Staff are super friendly great vibe and a very comfortable place to be for all types. Very inviting fun atmosphere and always something going on. Love this bar !
