FRIENDS Bar Bremen

Loved the chilled atmosphere. It’s a cosy small space and it’s easy to just sit, have a drink and chat. The bartenders were lovely and friendly. The drinks too are really great. Can’t recall all we had to drink but they were a hit! All round good spot.

Good music and nice ambience. The location is within a few minutes from the Hbf. Though we had nothing fancy, I liked the way the ciders were served ... in glasses with ice. While I would generally expect a bigger crowd on a saturday night, I had the impression that its a nice and friendly pub for couples as well as small groups.

Alright, so. I had — and I really can’t call it a pleasure — the chance to visit this place called Friends in Bremen, Germany. Went twice. Don’t ask me why. They market themselves like they’re some kind of LGBTQ+ bar, right? Yeah, no. Not even close. There’s nothing gay about it. No vibe, no flair, no personality. Just dull. Dead. No iconic music — no Gaga, no Beyoncé, not even a little Britney. Like… what are we even doing here? It’s supposed to be a queer space, not a waiting room. The crowd? Mostly older folks just sitting around. No energy, no fun, no dancing, no nothing. Not even a flicker of life. I swear I’ve seen more excitement on the subway at 3 AM. If I’m being generous, I’ll give it a 2 outta 5 — and that’s only ‘cause the cocktails weren’t trash. That’s it.

I rate this 3.5, as experienced some bumpy behavior from a local drunk, even so bumpy that, the bartenders made him leave the house. Anyway, other than that incident, I found Friends, charming and cozy. They're selling quality drinks at very cheap and reasonable price. Actually I found the decorations were eye soothing. I stayed nearly 2.5 hrs and enjoyed with my partner.

Nice place, good selection, friendly staff. Definitely make a reservation, though as the table fill quickly on the weekends.
