About Great Dane

Great Dane reopened in Melville in August 2025 after its earlier Braamfontein incarnation. It is not exclusively LGBTQ+, but has a longstanding queer following and is especially known for its Gay Dane Saturday crowd, DJs and late-night atmosphere.

Very welcoming, clean place (decent bathrooms with running water and toilet papers. Young and vibrant crowd. Music is not bad but they can do better. Alcohol prices are reasonable unlike their competition on 7th street lol. As for the service, my waitress was nowhere closeby when I needed her, not blaming her though. They seemed shortstaffed even on a Saturday night.
