About Gretas

Gretas in Gothenburg is not just the city’s oldest gay bar—it’s a vibrant, inclusive hotspot for anyone looking to party in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Located at Drottninggatan 35, this two-floor club boasts two dancefloors and bars, offering different vibes to suit your mood. Upstairs, expect house music pumping through the night, while downstairs is a mix of disco, 70s, 80s, and 90s classics, with a bit of Schlager thrown in for good measure. It’s perfect for anyone who loves dancing to nostalgic beats or modern grooves. Gretas is open every Friday and Saturday from 10 pm until the early morning hours, making it a prime spot to kick off your weekend. While it’s definitely a go-to for the LGBTQ+ community, Gretas is proudly straight-friendly, welcoming anyone who’s up for a good time with an open mind. Don’t be surprised if you catch a fabulous drag show on a particularly lucky night! With its long history and loyal fanbase, Gretas is a staple of Gothenburg’s nightlife scene and an absolute must for visitors wanting to experience the city’s queer culture firsthand.

we went for eurovision night: we heard two eurovision songs the rest was mid, we requested one song that never got played. a drink was 300 crowns (30 euros) which is an insane price to me. there was no one inside except for some weird people… the vibes were very off. we were bored to death and left eventually. (bonus: a glass of water was 30 crowns which speaks for itself)

For a gay nightclub, it's surprisingly spacious with several floors and bars. Usually not a fan of cover charge but since wardrobe is included, it was pretty alright. The vibe was generally really good with drag show, but like any queer space there's unfortunately a lot of straight girls on "gay safari".

Lovely place to be.. i had fun.. for a person of African descent i have not been to any place that i felt so loved and treated so nicely as i felt in Gretas. We danced all night long and people were genuinely lovely. The service was Tiptop.. fellow guests happy.. i felt liberated

My friend and I had lots of fun. The atmosphere in the main dance floor was great, the performance was super short and a bit disappointing. This is the only place in Sweden that I know it doesn’t offer tap water at the bar. They sell small bottles and tell you to go and grab water tap water from the bathroom if that’s what you want. Yikes!

Very expensive and empty. The music is very boring :(. Would not recommended paying the money to go in here !! Also my drink was 300 kr :((
