About Industry

Industry is one of Hell’s Kitchen’s best-known gay bars: a large, energetic space built for after-work drinks, drag entertainment and late-night socializing. The long bar and open layout make it easier for groups than some of the neighborhood’s smaller venues, while DJs and performers lift the energy as the evening develops. Expect a polished but approachable crowd, regular drag hosts and a soundtrack that leans towards pop and dance. Its Midtown location also makes Industry an easy stop on a wider Hell’s Kitchen LGBTQ+ bar crawl. Check the official website or Instagram for the latest lineup and event times.

What to expect

I don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience at this Industry bar in New York on April 4, 2026 around 9 PM was really disappointing—mainly because of the bouncer at the door. I completely understand that checking IDs is part of the job, but it’s the way it was done that was the problem. I was asked for my ID in a very rude and aggressive manner, with zero professionalism or basic respect. It felt unnecessary and honestly uncomfortable, like I was being talked down to for no reason. A simple request can go a long way when it’s done politely, but this interaction immediately set a negative tone for the night. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, this one was not it. There are plenty of places in New York where you can feel welcomed from the moment you arrive—this just wasn’t one of them.

This belligerent man stole my friend's bag last night and wanted to fight me when I tried to get it back. I got the bouncer, Sean, involved and he went after the 6'5" loser who ran outside with his friend. Sean was amazing and got it back for us. Protect him at all costs. The spectators in the bar were also helpful to help us figure out where the man went. It would have been nice if the guy at coat check let us put the bag there after this incident but he had no sympathy. I hope they keep track of people who do these things because they are trash and should be blacklisted.

I always enjoy this space. It allows for relaxing, or dancing, or pool playing, or just talking on a couch. Drinks are reasonable and I had no issues with the staff as I've read on other posts.

the bartenders are great, the space itself is decent, and it’s in a prime Hell’s Kitchen location. But the bouncers completely ruin the experience. They are unprofessional, rude, and act like they’re doing you a favor just letting you in. I’ve been to many bars in the area, and this place has by far the most unwelcoming bouncers. They seriously need to hire better, professional staff at the door. I’ll never understand why such a popular spot chooses to have the very first people you meet be the ones who make you never want to come back.

The Fireball event was my first time at Industry Bar. It feels like a dive bar mixed with a club - there's a DJ and loud music, and a full bar, but the bar...
