About Jackhammer

Jackhammer is one of Chicago’s most iconic leather and fetish bars, located in the Rogers Park neighbourhood just north of Boystown. Known for its late hours, dark dance floor and loyal local crowd, it has been a cornerstone of the city’s kink and alternative LGBTQ+ nightlife for decades. The venue spans multiple levels, including a busy main bar and dance floor alongside themed nights, DJs and regular events that draw a mix of locals and visiting nightlife veterans. Expect a no-attitude, anything-goes energy, strong drinks and a distinctly old-school Chicago leather bar feel. Jackhammer remains one of the city’s longest-running and most authentic late-night queer institutions.

finally went here for a theme night last month; what a great space for the community! something for everyone in every sense, bartenders are sweet and pour good fairly priced drinks, space is very clean but not sterile. im always treated very warmly here as a trans person so don’t worry about looking like a stereotypical circuit queen. thanks for helping keep rogers park weird!

Met a friend there yesterday for the first time. The staff and service is great! The club space itself is very nice and updated. I was really impressed. The negative is the obscenely loud music. I can’t recall ever being in a bar where the music was so loud that I couldn’t even speak to anyone without shouting. I get it’s a club but please consider creating a slightly less loud space to socialize with patrons without having to shout and only hear part of the conversation. I know you have a patio area with a smoking area which is appreciated and the patio area is beautiful but its winter and its use is limited. I left after an hour due to the sound. Loud music and a big crowd is very overwhelming as well as overstimulating for many folks. You have a beautiful spot but please consider creating a less loud area. Thanks!

Y’all gotta do better at trans-inclusivity. If it’s a cis gay male event, save us some time and put that on the flyer. We’re all people, express your emotions, but do the bare minimum and be respectful. Trans people, be careful.

I love the lighting at Jackhammer, it’s so fun and sets a fantastic mood. I have been frequenting this bar for well over a year now, and always have a good time. Event nights to tend to get crowded, but I appreciate that the space provides such a range of themes and occasions. Especially those that cater to a wider range of audiences. As a nontraditional patron of the bar, it was a little intimidating at first. The staff has never bat an eye, they are happy to serve. Huge shoutout to bartender Chris with the white glasses, he *always* makes me feel incredibly welcome and is a great reassurance that I belong there. Overall, if you’re into an upbeat and playful environment, this is a good place for you.

Vibe is unfiltered and inclusive 🏳️‍🌈🔥—multi‑level LGBTQ+ bar with drinks, darts, pool & great DJs keeping the dance floor bumpin’ late 🍸🎶. Rogers Park crowd is friendly and welcoming. Bathrooms and some spaces could use love 😅, and it’s definitely loud and wild. Worth a visit if you want fun with edge! 💥
