Just OK. Major surprise to see cleaner guy duck into room for a quicky with someone. Un-expected and un-professional. He later gestured me into a room, no thanks, again un-acceptable. On a brighter note - the red haired guy at reception was so friendly and helpful to a first time visitor. Will visit again next time in Christchurch - the nude night was fun.

Love the place, but I was turned away for not been under 35, I'm 36. There was a time when visitors to Christchurch could pop in anytime irrespective of age. It is a big enough place for everyone to spreadout. Most of the regulars are over 35, so it's just daft. Society is prejudiced enough without a gay venue being ageist.

Menfriends is a warm, welcoming place where you can truly relax and be yourself. The new owners are absolutely lovely and have put so much effort into making the space look amazing—and it really shows. The staff are just as wonderful: super friendly and genuinely welcoming. I highly recommend it, and I always make sure to visit whenever I’m back in New Zealand on holiday.

I’d say overall I had a decent experience here—Christchurch’s only gay sauna, with a two-floor layout, cruising maze, spa jacuzzi, steam room, outdoor garden, free Wi-Fi, and adult shop. It’s a unique space for relaxation and socialising. However, the upstairs rooms felt quite dated—some of the bed covers were torn and uncomfortable, which affected the overall comfort of my visit. I also felt that some staff members could benefit from customer service training. While it’s understandable that rules need to be enforced, reminders were sometimes delivered in a confrontational tone. A more respectful and friendly approach would make the environment much more welcoming. That said, the facility has a lot to offer. With improved service and refreshed furnishings, this could be a much stronger venue. I hope management considers upgrading the rooms and investing in staff development—there’s real potential here.

What a great experience! That place is super clean, the staff is wonderful!!! It was a super cool moment 🤍 I’ve tried differents sauna (in France) before and it’s by far, the cleaniest one! 👌🏼
