About Nobody’s Darling

Nobody’s Darling is an inclusive queer cocktail bar on West Balmoral Avenue in Chicago’s Andersonville neighbourhood. Co-owned by Angela Barnes and Renauda Riddle, the venue was created as a women-centred space where queer women, femmes and the wider LGBTQ+ community could feel comfortable and welcome. Cocktails are at the heart of the experience. The menu combines elevated classics with original drinks inspired by notable women of colour, alongside wine, beer and thoughtfully made low-alcohol and alcohol-free options. Nobody’s Darling was recognised as a finalist for the 2022 James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program. The atmosphere is polished but relaxed rather than club-like, making it suitable for dates, drinks with friends and smaller celebrations. Its changing calendar includes DJs, mixers, viewing parties and events serving different parts of Chicago’s queer community. VIP booth and high-table reservations are available, while larger private events can be arranged directly with the venue. Check the official website for the current cocktail menu, event calendar and opening hours before visiting.

What to expect

When you want to see what Chicago is about, this is a great first start. Friendly people & friendly staff. Very diverse crowd: They don’t serve food but they’re pretty cool about you ordering something from an outside restaurant to enjoy with your glass of wine…very cute!

First time here, cocktails were fantastic, staff was fine - but the music was obscenely loud for the size and style of the place. We're talking yelling to be heard by a person a foot from you, yelling to be heard by the bartender, leaves your ears ringing kind of volume. I feel like an old woman typing this, but sincerely it was so loud you can't think.

We had such a wonderful time at Nobody’s Darling! The DJ was playing hits, the bartenders were so friendly and knowledgeable, and the people were an absolute vibe. The patio is great if you’re looking for something on the more laid back side, and the ambiance inside is so cute & classy. Loved this bar, and would absolutely recommend it to anyone!
