About Plush Oxford

Plush is Oxford’s main dedicated LGBTQ+ nightclub and the natural late-night follow-on from drinks at the Jolly Farmers. Hidden away in central Frewin Court, it combines a dancefloor, multiple bars, cocktails and commercial party music in a distinctly student-friendly setting. The busiest rhythm follows the university calendar, including a term-time Tuesday alongside regular Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Expect a younger crowd, drinks offers and an unapologetically upbeat night rather than an underground club experience.

What to expect

A lively, student-friendly LGBTQ+ nightclub with commercial music, cocktails and a busy central dancefloor.

Great vibes and good cocktails Really enjoyed my night at Plush. The atmosphere was lively and the music kept me on the dance floor. Cocktails were spot on and the staff behind the bar were friendly and quick. Had a solid time overall. Would happily go back.

Into my heart an air that kills From yon far country blows: What are those blue remembered hills, What spires, what farms are those? That is the land of lost content, I see it shining plain, The happy highways where I went And cannot come again. The nation is dying and ‘Plush’ Oxford is the latest stronghold to fall. This was a place of escape, of heady joviality and kinship. No longer. The capitalist overlords have sunk their teeth into this establishment and sucked out any hint of life or character it once had. One might argue that a few extra pounds upon entry is insignificant, a triviality, worst of all, a ‘technicality’, but I contend that you ignore symbol at your own peril. The icy hand of the zero-sum game is now keenly felt in this place, and it is tightening its grip. When you buy a ticket you are essentially entering a contract with another party which behoves them to grant you certain services and ‘Plush’ have taken to abusing the spirit (if not the letter) of such contracts. A technical issue, fine. But this decay, of course, goes deeper. The part that stings most of all is the hypocrisy. A place that overtly claims inclusivity and community is showing its true colours; we are not friends but walking wallets. We the people, who have bought tickets from many moons ago, who propped up this place when it was a joke and a sham, are being pushed out and priced out; loyalty is not a concept familiar to the icy hand. Look upon the ghost of Bridge! Does the image of her contorted corpse not rankle in your soul?!

I came into the club for the first time yesterday and was served by Sophia. She was lovely and made sure I had my drinks on time. Would 100% recommend this club!
