RYUU ONSEN is one of the breakout stars of Bangkok''s newer gay onsen scene, bringing a slicker Japanese-style bathhouse feel to Ratchayothin in northern Bangkok. Just a few minutes from BTS Ratchayothin, this men''s onsen has built a particularly strong following with younger Thai guys, making it a useful alternative to the tourist-heavy gay saunas around Silom. The mood is contemporary and social, with bathing and relaxation areas, private rooms and plenty of space to linger rather than rush in and out. For LGBTQ+ travellers looking for a gay sauna in Bangkok that feels current, local and busy, RYUU is one of the most important names to have on the list. Weekends run later, and the venue can build into a lively late-night crowd well after dinner. Standard admission has recently been advertised around ฿460, with occasional time-based promotions, but prices change often enough that it is worth checking @ryuuonsen before heading over. This is less old-school dark maze and more polished urban onsen — with the social chemistry of a Bangkok cruising venue still very much part of the experience.

What to expect

Relaxing atmosphere, clean facilities, and very friendly staff. The whole place feels calm and premium from the moment you walk in. Really enjoyed the drink and the overall experience. Perfect place to recharge and escape the busy city for a while. Will definitely come back again

Cozy Onsen in town with hot bath and steam. Nice decoration and relaxing atmosphere for those who got stress from daily works. Friendly service counter and able to communicate in English. Highly recommended and worth for money.

It seems to me that some positive reviews might have been begged for. Unlike all their competitors nearby they demand (from grown up adult foreigners, at least) a confidential personal document to avail a discount. However, as incongrous as it might sound, and in fact it is, if you pay full price entrance fee, the staff in charge claims to have the capacity to grant you access without you having to show any document whatsoever. Therefore, I conclude that the policy lacks legal basis (clearly it's not a legal requirement as it is not a hotel and their competitors don't make any of such demands). The fact that the rules fluctuate depending on the entrance fee that you pay (discounted or full fare), it makes it look like an unbelievably unprofessional operation and highly suspicious, due to the obvious discriminatory practices. The best way to deal with what I perceive as abusive, unreasonable, business practices and demands, is to not patronize such businesses, until they change their ways and start operating in a logical way. Fortunately, there are other better options (literally steps away) for those who don't wish to be taken for granted, or feel pressured in any way, to comply with absurd arbitrary demands.
