This bathhouse exceeded my expectations. I was honestly hesitant about going in at first since it was my first time at a large bathhouse, but I’m really glad I did. It has everything in one place, jacuzzi, sauna, and a steam room that was hot and relaxing. There are also multiple areas, including private spaces and open areas, so you can choose whatever kind of experience you want. Some people prefer to socialize, while others just relax on the sidelines, so it really depends on you. The facilities were great overall, clean, well-maintained, and with useful amenities like a mouthwash station and a good gym. At first, I wasn’t sure about the staff, but they were completely professional and welcoming. There was one staff member (night shift, around 2:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27th) who was especially kind and friendly, even though I never got his name. If you’re reading this, thank you you really made the experience better. One thing I appreciated was how clean everything was. I even thought I might need to keep shoes on the whole time, but that wasn’t necessary at all. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely come back next time.

I’m writing this review immediately after leaving. I liked the place overall, and the experience could have been very good, but unfortunately I had two very unpleasant and concerning experiences tonight. The first happened in the dark room on the second floor. I witnessed a man hitting, pushing, and aggressively yelling at another customer. The situation was violent enough to make me concerned for the other person’s safety. I don’t like describing people based on physical characteristics, but I’m providing as much information as possible so the establishment can identify the people involved and review the cameras. The second incident happened at around 1:30 a.m., when we were trying to get our belongings from our lockers before leaving. Two people were blocking our lockers, so we were simply waiting. Another man who was standing in front of us suddenly started yelling and insulting us, accusing us of not moving and saying that we were standing there “like idiots,” among other things. He was extremely aggressive, and I chose to remain quiet and de-escalate the situation rather than risk making things worse. My locker was #573, and I believe the man involved was around locker #592. I did not see any staff members nearby at the time to report the incident immediately. I want to emphasize that I actually liked the facility, but incidents involving this level of aggression should be taken seriously. I hope management can review the cameras, identify the people involved, and take appropriate action to ensure that customers can enjoy the facility in a safe and respectful environment.

Chicago Steamworks is hands-down the best gay bathhouse in North America—period, 10/10. (For context, Toronto’s SW takes second place, and Montreal’s G.I. Joe takes third). Among all the bathhouses I’ve visited across the continent, its overall quality, spatial design, and atmosphere are truly top-tier. The first floor houses the locker rooms and wet areas, featuring a large pool, steam room, and dry sauna that are exceptionally comfortable to use. The second and third floors are dedicated to private rooms and play areas, with a layout that perfectly balances privacy and social interaction. My personal favorite detail is the decoration at the landing of the staircase between the first and second floors. The staff changes the theme based on the holiday, season, or specific events. I’ve never seen another club put so much heart into its decor; it’s truly impressive. The best times to visit are Friday and Saturday nights, as well as Boyz Night. Sunday evenings tend to be quiet since most people have work on Monday, so it’s not the ideal time if you’re looking for a crowd. SW-Chi offers lockers and a variety of private room sizes to suit your needs. The crowd is incredibly diverse—covering all ages, body types, and ethnicities—and generally, everyone is friendly and respectful. A pro-tip: bring a pair of clean flip-flops and take care of your personal grooming at home beforehand for a more comfortable experience 😎. If you’re a regular, I highly recommend following their social media for updates on special events. Also, be sure to keep their ID and bag policies in mind before you head out.

Came and checked this place out for the first this past weekend and the place was clean, lots of place to explore, most importantly it was fun. I don’t wanna be a debbie downer but it didn’t seem like this was a place to welcoming of black people that’s all but I still had fun lots other ethnic groups was here too. As black man would love to see others or others interested in melanated people. But outside of that great experience 8/10

Drove 51 miles, charged 33 bucks at 7 am for a locker today. Get inside, pool closed. Sauna closed. Steam rooms closed. NO water in the vending machines. Ask for a refund. Am told a manager will do it later. I ask for proof of a refund...nope, they couldn't. Told me check my statement in a week that charge on ny MC at 6 or 7 something am 8/10 had BETTER be reversed. Plus 20 bucks to drive here. 60 bucks for NOTHING, services not working, processing higher than advertised. I am NOT happy. 100% unacceptable customer service. Word of mouth is strong in this community.
