Visited NY with some friends from SoCal, we went in expecting more of a gimmicky bar vibe but was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere. It felt like a very homely-hole in the wall atmosphere. Chuck was our bartender and he was outstanding, fast and efficient, super welcoming. If you were going alone I’d hope you get his shift, he genuinely tries his darndest to connect all those coming here, and I think that’s what made and still makes stonewall what it is, a place for the community to socialize, relax, connect. Came in expecting to get only one drink but we stayed for hours.

My wife and I visited here while on Vacation, as a newly out trans person who has lived most her life in Florida, I was not ready for how much an affirming place such as this would mean to me, coupled with the fact that pride very literally started here, it gave me what I needed to embrace myself, and to try and better things for my queer and trans comrades in Florida, we also had a lovely conversation with the owner who gave us a tour, and bought us each a beer (the Stonewall IPA is amazing! Wish I could get some in FL), we also ordered a cocktail each from the bar, the bartender was quite knowledgeable, and encouraging. A must see for anyone passing through, and all the more important for queer folk, thank you again for the unforgettable experience while we were up there

Friendly LGBTQ bar around West Village area. Two levels inside. Bars and living performing stage on first floor. Some seats and a pool table (?). Second floor entrance fee $5 (Fri night). It’s mostly a dance floor with lounge seats and tables. You can order drinks at the bar. Dancers on the stage all night long. Then main show starts around 1230/1am. I would say the music is mix generations, more towards the new generation tho. Still, great vibes, everyone is dancing and enjoying the dancers’ incredible moves.

I grew up in the NYC area, but had never been to the Stonewall. I was down for business, and after wrapping up early one day I took the subway down to Christopher St. Got there around 3pm & the bar was relatively full. The bartender was very good at her job, checking in frequently with me & others for refills. It was a quiet, weekday afternoon, but I felt this was ideal for a first time visit. I’ve always known the history of the place, and was happy to make the pilgrimage and give my support to such a legendary establishment. I drank their signature brew, Brooklyn Brewery’s Stonewall Inn IPA. Spent about 2 hours talking with folks from all over. I was hoping they carried bar merch, and was happy to see t-shirts, hoodies, tote bags & ballcaps. I bought a T-shirt. A very welcoming bar. I’ll visit each time I’m in NYC.
