About The 86

Chilled, casual and comfy booths as you enter the venue which adjoins a kitsch New York styled warm in ambience and tone Bar area made earthy with lots of vintage exposed old timbers and brickwork through to the back of ‘the 86’ performance space with cabaret events, theatrical seated shows, disco, comedy and exhibition uses but always building to an end of the night filled with high kicks and shoe shuffling under our mirror ball lit dance space on the ever colourful Smith St. Fitzroy.

Love this place - found it randomly for "one drink" but stayed super late. Fab bar staff, amazing professional west end theatre level entertainment - great atmosphere. Go!

What a NIGHT. Lovely staff, epic music, felt like we were boogying the night away in 1986 - cannot recommend more!

The 86 Cabaret Bar is a beautiful, immersive, and inclusive space filled with art, creativity, and good times. Always such a joy to be there, and a true celebration of community!

Had a great time - we had fantastic Espresso Martinis and beers for Pride. Was a bit put off when one of the staff told us to move because he was moving the barriers. He then snapped at us to buy drinks there to pay the performers - even though we did. He had seen my keep cup I had in my hand and assumed I had brought a drink into the venue. To assume makes an ass of you and me. What a way to say happy pride to people who had supported your venue that evening at Pride. All the other bar tenders that we had got our cocktails and beers from were lovely, though. Such a shame someone would project onto us after we politely moved so they could move the barriers outside and we quickly got out of the way only for him to be a jerk to us. I doubt you're paying Chappell's healthcare cut.
