The Edge Southampton

I went for my first time ⏲️ 3 Saturdays ago and only my second time last Sunday. From the door staff who are obviously professionally trained. And the head door lady who I had a lovely chat with when leaving last Sunday. The bar staff and the people there made me very welcome and are all very friendly. This is a great venue. I'm 55 so probably 1 of the oldest in there. For the people who commented on the door men not being nice. You couldn't be more wrong. They know who to let in and who not to. There just doing there job properly and keeping the venue a safe happy place 😀

I’ve been going to this venue for years as it’s usually my favourite nightspot, but as of recent, the playlist on a weekend feels like clubslop… if the DJ can’t take requests, they can always say so instead of saying yes each time then ignoring it... Everything else was great, but please don’t try to be like every other club; the pop punk, 2000s tunes, and queer bangers were a big part of why I enjoyed the place!

Based this purely on last nights visit. I’ve been coming to edge for around 7/8 years now and it’s always been a friendly, exclusive environment. Unfortunately last night was a disappointment to say the least. On a Saturday night you would expect all 3 rooms to be open or at least 2, but unfortunately they weren’t. It was so overcrowded you had no room to dance, from the minute you walked in the door you couldn’t even walk to the bar without quite literally pushing your way through people back to back, shoulder to shoulder. It was a very uncomfortable experience. The only saving grace was the bar staff (I think I remember her name was Jess) was polite and handled the swarm of people very well and the security, who you can see are very well trained. Especially Jill and the other tall guy on the front door. I will never return on a Saturday, it’s to overcrowded compared t any cub if seen around the area.

Kirk is the best damn personal ever and Jill is the best security I’ve ever met. They’re both the most amazing people. Best people to visit in Southampton.

Fun venue with a great atmosphere The Edge has a lively vibe with two dance floors (ground and upstairs), a cloakroom, and an outdoor smoking/seating area. It stays open until 5am on Fridays and Saturdays. Entry was £7 when I visited. Unfortunately, the experience was soured right at the entrance — despite having my ID ready, one of the doormen made a rude comment about my outfit (just black shorts and a black t-shirt). Totally uncalled for and unprofessional. Not the kind of welcome you'd expect at any venue, especially one that should feel inclusive. Shame really, as the rest of the night was decent. But that kind of attitude might put me off returning.
