About The Wickham

The Wickham, nestled in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley, has been a cornerstone of the city's LGBTQIA+ scene since the 1970s. Established in 1885, this heritage-listed venue underwent a significant $3.1 million renovation in 2023, blending its historic charm with modern flair. The revamped beer garden is a highlight, featuring eclectic décor and a vibrant atmosphere. Patrons can enjoy live music, burlesque performances, and drag shows on the weather-proof stage, ensuring entertainment regardless of the weather. Inside, The Peacock Room pays homage to the venue's iconic peacock, Frankie, with vintage furnishings and local artwork. Upstairs, The Garland Room hosts touring DJs and performers, offering a dynamic nightlife experience. The menu caters to diverse tastes, featuring stone-baked pizzas, share plates like fried halloumi, and classic mains such as chicken parmigiana and chargrilled steaks. Vegetarian and vegan options are plentiful, and the dog-friendly policy includes a dedicated menu for canine companions. Open seven days a week from 10 am until late, The Wickham continues to be a welcoming space for all, upholding its legacy as a proud supporter of Brisbane's LGBTQIA+ community.

Came here for the first time recently. Was an enjoyable afternoon of drag shows, music and dancing with friends. Been a few more times since my original review. Have had some food now too. Decent quality and value. However I can't raise my review any higher than 4 stars with the bathroom situation. Always long waits at busy events, with some out of order cubicles at the moment and many others having various types of repair needs. While this is unfortunately common in venues in the area its still a detractor. More urinals may eleviate some of the wait time, or potentially some major renovations to combine and reformat the 2 all gender bathrooms that are side by side and divided by a wall to fit in more cubicles in a more spacewise way.

J from the start was the cutest, they were so so lovely and friendly. The service they provided was so heartwarming, I felt so safe and that I was in the right spot. Their chat and conversations were beautifully genuine and heartfelt, it was like I was talking to a family friend. They were so understanding and accommodating when one of the members of my group was a bit intense and offered support and genuine concern. I have always loved coming to the Wickham but after my experience tonight, I want to come back more if I am being served by J. I would recommend this place 100000x times more after my experience tonight because of J

Made a booking for twelve people here the Saturday just passed for the first hole of a pub golf event. The venue was pretty much empty at the time we went to order drinks. The bartender was rude, condescending, unfriendly and dismissive. When we went to order margaritas, a standard cocktail, he was disgusted and started lecturing us about how unfair the request was after we had paid for the first three drinks. "I can tell by your outfits you're doing pub golf. And ordering cocktails? Never do that again. That's a rude move." He then proceeded to make the worst margarita I think I have ever had (the glass was also barely half full) which was clearly a spiteful move, given we had paid full price for everything including food. As the rest of the group went to order, he delivered the same self-pittying speech, also complaining when two other paying customers arrived in golf attire. As a group of people who have also worked years in the service industry it is interesting to see that the person you have representing your company is happy with discouraging customers from ever returning due to not wanting to complete their job to an average standard.

Only been the once and the service was pretty average from the bar. The food service was fine though. The beer garden looked good and the general feel is quite good. Open to all and everyone but obviously has a speciality customer base but in no way did this vibe make anyone uncomfortable. And yes, in this era I was trying to make the point without offending anyone!

Now, this pub was really cool. It is basically one of those inner-city pubs that I absolutely adore. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I can actually fault...
