About Big bar

Big Bar in Athens is one of the city’s most iconic gay venues, particularly known for its bear-friendly vibe. Nestled in the vibrant Gazi district, this bar has been a staple in the LGBTQ+ scene since 2004. What sets Big Bar apart is its laid-back, welcoming atmosphere, which makes it the perfect spot to chill before heading to the nearby clubs. Whether you're a local or just passing through Athens, Big Bar is the go-to destination for a night of affordable drinks and great music, often featuring classic pop and dance tracks. Located just a few minutes from the Kerameikos metro station, this cozy venue attracts a diverse crowd, but its charm lies in its friendly environment and reasonably priced drinks. It’s especially popular with the bear community but open to everyone looking for a fun, relaxed night out. Weekends tend to be the busiest, and it's a prime location for those who love to start their night in a more intimate setting before moving on to the wilder venues nearby.

The bartender was lovely and we had a great conversation while I was there. The place is quite nice and you will probably feel comfy there.

I was here once in 2019 and I had a very bad experience, mainly from the crowd there who were very unfriendly, and promised myself to never visit the place again. After 5 years all of my local friends told me to give this place a second chance and I did last night. The place is miles better than what it used to be. The bartender was nice to me and chatty. They played a mix of all the music I like, especially they played few rock songs, very rare for a gay bar to do that. The drinks were nice and the vibe was much better than 5 years ago. I'll try to catch the weekend drag show. Otherwise, on my next time in Athens.

Classic and well-known bear-friendly club with a welcoming staff and affordable prices. It features a cult amateur in-house drag show and interesting vintage décor. The music is mainly mainstream pop, house, and dance. Note that the ventilation is not ideal, so it can get crowded and warm during the summer months. Definitely worth visiting at least once!

Very welcoming staff and guests. The bartender and Greek guy we sat next to at the bar were very chatty and hospitable. They both gave us recommendations on local restaurants and sites to see. Despite being quiet when we were there (it was Easter), we had a great time. I highly recommend taking a beer or two when in Athens. Also, very close to the Kerameikos metro stop.
