About Blue Chilli

Blue Chilli, established in 2006, is Phnom Penh's longest-running gay bar. Located near the National Museum on Street 178, it has become a staple in the city's LGBTQ+ nightlife scene. The bar attracts a diverse mix of expats, locals, and tourists, creating an inclusive atmosphere for all. Open every night from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM, Blue Chilli is renowned for its drag shows, which take place on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, typically starting around 11:00 PM. These performances feature talented artists from the Haus of Chilli, offering lively entertainment that draws in crowds. The venue includes a standing room and an outside terrace, providing options for patrons to relax and socialize. While primarily a gay bar, Blue Chilli welcomes a mixed and friendly crowd, making it a popular spot for anyone seeking a vibrant night out in Phnom Penh. The bar is known for its reasonably priced drinks and cozy atmosphere, often becoming crowded late at night as the performances commence. For those interested in experiencing Phnom Penh's LGBTQ+ nightlife, Blue Chilli offers a lively environment with regular drag shows and a welcoming community.

As a straight couple with many friends in the LGBTQIA+ community, we genuinely enjoy visiting this venue with our friends. The staff are welcoming, engaging, and create a fun atmosphere. The drag performers are exceptional—bringing together dancing, comedy, and theatrical flair that make the experience truly memorable. That said, I have also witnessed concerning behavior. On multiple occasions, I’ve seen straight men show disrespect toward drag performers and lesbian patrons, which is disappointing. I believe a stronger and more visible security presence would help address this issue. In one instance, I observed a straight woman pour her drink on a gay man simply because he was in her way. This behavior does not reflect gay culture or the values this community represents. This is a gay bar, and it should be treated with the respect it deserves. I strongly believe that straight patrons have a responsibility to honor this space, as it is one of the few remaining safe spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community.

Excellent shows, great decorations no cruising around 😂 Shows are super funny and good, lesbian girls are fully welcome which is great. For gays I suggest you go here right after Hero Sauna/Hatcha Khmer massage, then closing your night with Heart of Darkness 😆 A good gay tour for fun.

Such a cool bar that is Pride friendly 🏳️‍🌈👌 and their new venue is amazing! I will definitely go back again with friends. They host amazing drag shows that are such fun to take a bunch of friends and have an awesome evening. Have been back a few times and it's such a great vibe always!

Was once a wonderful venue a few years ago but now the music is far too loud. You cant even hear the person sitting next to you. The drag shows are excellent. The waiters are all conmen with their fake friendliness. They offer to sit and chat with you as long as you keep buying them expensive drinks, which I suspect the owner encourages. Then, at the end of the evening, when its time to leave, they had the audacity to ask for tips. I will never be returning there again.
