About Blueboy

BlueBoy in Kuala Lumpur stands as one of the city’s most enduring gay-friendly spots, perched near the lively Bukit Bintang district. Since the 1980s, this iconic establishment has offered a welcoming space for those seeking a laid-back evening or an energetic night out. The neon-lit exterior leads visitors into a compact interior featuring a simple bar area and a dancefloor where catchy music fills the air. Local DJs typically spin an eclectic mix of pop anthems and upbeat dance tracks, ensuring a fun-loving vibe for newcomers and regulars alike. Unlike some nightlife venues, BlueBoy maintains an unpretentious ambiance that appeals to guests looking for a more down-to-earth experience. Patrons often arrive after dinner to socialize over drinks or sing karaoke in a casual environment before the space transitions into a late-night disco. The staff is known for being approachable and chatty, helping first-timers feel right at home. Drink prices are considered reasonable by local standards, which adds to the accessible nature of this spot. As one of the more established gay venues in Kuala Lumpur, BlueBoy has witnessed the city’s evolving LGBT scene and continues to be a familiar face in conversations about inclusive nightlife. Whether people drop by for a quick drink or decide to dance until closing time, they find a slice of KL culture that has stood the test of time. Visitors can locate BlueBoy along Jalan Sultan Ismail, tucked away from the main thoroughfares of the bustling metropolis. It remains an LGBTQ presence in Kuala Lumpur.

Great show, first one a bit after midnight (so don’t show up at 12:45 like some reviews say, or you’ll miss the beginning) and another one around 1:30am. Sad it’s the only place like this here, but glad there’s at least one 💜 60 to get in and comes with one free drink !

Love Blueboy. The original drag bar in KL. Some of the best drag queens started here. And their DJs are also good (they play mostly pop hits, none of those circuit music). Been supporting this place for so long now but I wish they change their format. Instead of having two shows so late into the night (12.30am and 1.30am), why not do 1 performance every 20-30minutes? This for sure will keep people hanging out in the bar.

My initial thought of coming here solo on a Saturday night was that it would surely be nerve-wracking. However, upon stepping inside, the non-judgmental crowd, the fabulous drag queens, and the overall atmosphere—filled with love and acceptance—instantly put me at ease. I had so much fun. The music played was 10/10, with some of my favorites from Eurovision included. This is not a place for conversations, though, because the music is at full volume. The RM60 fee entitles visitors to one free drink. If someone prefers a sober experience, non-alcoholic drinks are available too. As the place is located near MRT Bukit Bintang, consider taking the MRT if you are not staying nearby. The last train arrives in Bukit Bintang at 11:45 pm, giving visitors the perfect amount of time to settle in before the first drag show starts at 12:45 am.

Only LGBT bar to go out in KLCC, the drag is cuute to discover local songs and performance, but the DJ is absolutely awful in between and after, it’s supposed to be a cool night yet he only plays circuit/afterparty/chillout remixes that just ruins every song.. please change it…

So sad … Gay bar of big robbery. They have absolutely no idea how to make cocktails or just how to make a gin tonic and they charge big money 80 RM for nothing. We just want to have fun, we don't want to be robbed.
