About Green Lantern
Hidden down an alley near Thomas Circle, Green Lantern is one of Washington DC’s longest-running gay nightlife institutions. The venue spreads across two levels, with a neighborhood-bar feel downstairs and a livelier dance space above. Its calendar is known for shirtless drink specials, underwear and leather-flavored events, DJs and themed parties. The mood is welcoming but distinctly adult, attracting a largely gay male crowd and becoming much cruisier later at night. Check the event theme before visiting, as it can substantially change the atmosphere and dress expectations.
What to expect
Expect a hidden, old-school gay bar downstairs and a louder, cruisier dance space upstairs. Themed shirtless and leather nights create the strongest atmosphere.
