About Ochsengarten

Ochsengarten, nestled in Munich's vibrant Glockenbachviertel, has been a cornerstone of the city's gay scene since 1967. As Germany's first leather bar, it caters to enthusiasts of jeans, leather, rubber, and uniform attire. The bar's interior is adorned with posters from similar venues across Europe, creating a nostalgic ambiance. A small back room offers a discreet space for those seeking more intimate encounters. While there's no strict dress code, patrons embracing the bar's fetish traditions are especially welcomed, particularly on weekends. Ochsengarten operates daily, opening its doors at 8 PM and extending into the early morning hours, with longer nights on weekends. Notably, the bar has a storied history, with legends like Freddie Mercury among its past visitors. Located at Müllerstraße 47, Ochsengarten is easily accessible via the Sendlinger Tor U-Bahn station. For those interested in themed events, the bar hosts regular nights catering to various interests within the fetish community. Whether you're a local or a visitor, Ochsengarten offers a unique glimpse into Munich's rich gay nightlife and fetish culture.

I had a very unpleasant experience at this bar this weekend. I am visiting the city, and every bar has its own way of operating. At some point, I realized I couldn’t find my jacket. I wasn’t sure whether I had handed it to one of the bartenders or not, as I had forgotten that I had actually hung it on the coat rack near the entrance. When I asked the bartenders about my jacket, none of them mentioned that there was a coat rack available or that it was customary to leave jackets there. Not helpful at all. However, the worst part was yet to come. While looking for my jacket, a staff member who appeared to be supervising the area refused to believe that the jacket belonged to me. I explained that my AirPods were inside the jacket, but he still made me open it and prove that the AirPods were mine. I literally had to use Apple’s Find My app on my iPhone to demonstrate that the AirPods belonged to me. The entire situation felt like blatant xenophobia. I was clearly a foreign visitor, wearing a Brazil football shirt, and I cannot help but feel that I was treated with suspicion because of that. The level of disrespect was shocking. In my opinion, it was discrimination, call it xenophobia or whatever you prefer. What makes this even more disappointing is that my German husband used to live in this city and was a regular customer of this bar when he lived in Munich. A very upsetting and humiliating experience.

I had a great time here for drinks! Everyone was very kind and welcoming (even though I do not speak German). The music was good and the prices were great. It was clean and I felt very comfortable there. The next time I come to Munich, I will return to Ochsengarten 🍻

Visited several times over the weekend and really enjoyed. It was busy on Saturday night. A very nice, social bar with a good atmosphere, a mainly older clientele, a relaxed and friendly vibe. Definitely worth a visit.

A nice little place, that is exactly what it advertises. A men's only gay bar. The atmosphere is pretty chill, the staff at the door was an absolute sweetheart and even reccomended other upcoming parties nearby. The drinks are very affordable for munich standards. Some of the customers don't quite understand the concept of consent, so if someone touches you without you wanting it, tell them off. The crowd is a bit older, but i don't mind that at all, just keep in mind if you do. The bathrooms are pretty dirty if you come late, but once again, it's to be expected and if you're just gonna pee and go back out, you will barely even notice. This bar might not be to everyone's tastes, but it's still a good location go to if you're a gay dude who is into the more kinky spaces out there

Great bar with great prices and even better service! Falk is a hilarious bartender who gave us some tips about Munich on our first night out (on a Monday) and we had a great time at Ochsengarten.
