About The Court

The Court, a historic hotel in Perth, Western Australia, has been a cornerstone of the city's LGBTQ+ scene since the early 1990s. Located at 50 Beaufort Street, this heritage-listed venue was built in 1888 and has continuously operated as a hotel since then. The venue features a spacious astroturfed outdoor courtyard with a stage area, making it a popular spot for social gatherings and live performances. The exterior is adorned with vibrant street art, reflecting its dynamic atmosphere. Inside, patrons can enjoy a variety of events, including drag shows and DJ nights, catering to a diverse crowd. Over the years, The Court has undergone several renovations, notably in 1938, 2007, 2012, and 2017, to enhance its facilities while preserving its historic charm. In 2022, a colorful mural by Fremantle-based artist Jackson Harvey was added to the building's façade, further cementing its status as a cultural landmark.

What a fun place! We were there early on a Wednesday around 7.30 and there were only four of us in the place. However, it gradually filled up in the back courtyard as time for the first drag acts drew near. I was quite impressed by the sound and light system and the DJ and tech kept things pumping along nicely. We ordered the fish tacos and chicken tacos which we really enjoyed , as well as a pepperoni "Lady Gaga" pizza which had a tasty thing crust but suffered from being over-cheesed, making it a bit too greasy to finish. Less is more! Overall a great night out!

I had high hopes for the 90s brunch at The Court House, especially with the $83 price tag. The atmosphere was fun and nostalgic, and the music was definitely a highlight—it really set the tone and brought back some great memories. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite match the experience. We were a group of about ten, and every plate arrived cold. My avocado on toast with egg tasted more like it had just come from the fridge rather than being freshly made. For the price, I was expecting something a bit more special and enjoyable. Drinks were also a challenge, as each time we wanted one we found ourselves queuing for quite a while, which took away from the relaxed brunch vibe. Overall, while I did enjoy the music and lively atmosphere, the food and service left me feeling underwhelmed, especially given the cost.

Came on a Friday evening with a friend. Super friendly bar guy told us there was drag performances at 10.30 and 11.30. I left and security guy said thanks for coming, have a good night. I came back for the 11.30 show. Same security guy stopped me, said they needed to check my ID. As a 46 year old guy that always amuses me and I try to make a joke out of it. Zero craic from the staff. I showed my EU Irish passport card. They said they needed official ID. I told them it was an EU Irish passport card, I then showed them my Malaysian ID card and other work related ID cards. They said they needed an actual passport and asked if I had a photo of my passport. I said to them was there a current drag performance. He said I don’t know I just check IDs you need to ask her and he pointed at a lady at the door. At this point I just said this was way too much and the buzz was well and truly killed. I’m here for a few days, saw there was some other drag performances over the weekend and I will absolutely not be bothering with those. Sort out your door etiquette and re train your security staff. Absolute unnecessary nonsense.

One of the greatest nightclub venues in Perth. Having worked in the nightclub industry for over 13 years, I can honestly say the venue goes above and beyond for both its patrons and staff. Hannah, the venue manager, is an absolute standout. Professional, approachable, and genuinely passionate about creating a great experience for everyone who walks through the doors. The atmosphere is always electric, the staff are well-trained and friendly, and there’s a real sense that management cares, not just about the business, but about the people within it. My favourite thing about the venue is the courtyard. It’s easily one of the best spaces in Perth to party or host an event. Open, vibrant, and full of atmosphere. It’s the kind of area people gravitate toward and end up staying in for hours. 10/10 would recommend the venue to my friends and family!

Aidan is always behind the bar with a smile, ready to hear about the stories of the day, making you feel seen and heard! Recommends the best drinks and truly is a king of his bar! When you go to the court you get a warm welcome and a bartender who cares! Not just about his job but about you! Thanks for such a great time!
