About The George

The George, nestled on South Great George's Street in Dublin, has been a cornerstone of the city's LGBTQ+ scene since 1985. As one of Ireland's oldest and most renowned gay bars, it offers a welcoming space for both locals and visitors. The venue features two distinct areas: 'Bridie's Bar,' a cozy spot favored by an older crowd, and a lively club space that hosts regular drag performances and themed nights. Notable drag artists like Shirley Temple Bar, Veda, and Davina Devine frequently grace the stage, providing entertainment that ranges from karaoke to bingo sessions. Admission varies throughout the week, with free entry from Monday to Thursday, a €10 charge after 9 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and a €5 fee after 9 pm on Sundays.

Very friendly staff and great atmosphere. Gernard was very knowledgeable and pleasant. We really enjoyed the Niçoise salad and the blackened Tuna with Haricots verts. Great date night with the wife.

I honestly can’t thank The George Dublin enough! ❤️ My boyfriend and I visited twice during our week break in Dublin, and it quickly became one of our favourite places. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was amazing, everyone was in great spirits, and the drinks were such good value considering you’re right in the heart of Dublin. Every visit was full of good vibes, and it genuinely made our trip even more memorable. When I got back to the UK, I realised I’d lost my Pandora charm bracelet that I’d been collecting charms for over 13 years. I was absolutely devastated. About a week later, I decided to message The George, not expecting anything to come of it. To my surprise, they replied almost immediately to say that a bracelet had been handed in! After sending them a few photos to confirm it was mine, they kindly posted it all the way back to my home in the UK. Just two days later, it was back with me just after a week. It’s so rare to come across such genuine honesty and kindness. Not only did we have fantastic service, an incredible atmosphere and great-value drinks, but the team also went above and beyond to reunite me with something that means the world to me. A huge thank you to everyone at The George. You’ve given us memories we’ll never forget, and your kindness has meant more than you’ll ever know. We will 100% be back on our next trip to Dublin, and I’ll be recommending The George to everyone I know who’s planning a visit. Thank you again—you really are one of the best places in Dublin! 🍀❤️I honestly can’t thank The George Dublin enough! ❤️

The George is the oldest and largest gay bar in Dublin. Fantastic nightclub. All sorts of events happen here. Great selection of beers, wines and spirits. The NA Guinness is actually great! My favorite part of The George is the small pub attached called Bridies. Great spot that feels like a traditional pub. It's a great place to meet locals. Service everywhere was fantastic. Very friendly and helpful staff.

I mean you have to go to The George if you go to Dublin. Period. There are actually separate sections also. One is your traditional club with drag shows ECT and another that is more of a traditional pub experience.
