Axel Beach Maspalomas

Good stay overall. Very good location and friendly staff. The rooms are comfortable and the atmosphere is nice. However, the hotel is mainly frequented by a gay clientele. This should be highlighted more clearly during booking, as you mostly notice it when arriving at the hotel with the posters and the general atmosphere. The prices are also a bit high.

This was our second stay at Axel Beach Maspalomas, and unfortunately it confirmed that our first disappointing experience was not an isolated incident. We decided to give the hotel another chance despite our previous experience, when we felt we had been misled by the hotel manager, Kevin. We hoped things had improved, but sadly they had not. The staff were polite, professional, and did their best to help us. When we reported the problems with our room, they arranged a room change as quickly as possible, and I appreciate their efforts. Unfortunately, changing rooms did not solve the overall issue. The condition of both rooms was well below what we expect from a hotel that promotes itself as part of the Axel brand. Instead of enjoying our holiday, we spent our time dealing with accommodation problems. After sharing our experience with the hotel, we received a polite apology and an invitation to return with a preferential rate and a possible room upgrade. While I appreciate the response, it was disappointing that, after two unsuccessful stays and the inconvenience we experienced, no meaningful gesture was made to compensate for the holiday we had already paid for. Everyone’s expectations are different, but this review reflects our genuine experience. After giving this hotel two opportunities, we cannot recommend this hotel, and unfortunately we will not be returning.

Staff are extremely polite, efficient and friendly. A shout out to Aythemi on reception who couldn’t be more helpful, and to the little room cleaner who brightened your day by her sheer enthusiasm. The pool area is nice, clean and spacious. However the sauna and steam room are tiny. The rooms are acceptable but very dark, the black floors and dark decor really don't help. Bathrooms are functional but tired. The kitchenette is also tiny and whilst usable for snacks it’s really not good for meal prep. Overall an OK place to stay, helped by the friendliness of the staff and the central location.

I had an incredible stay at Axel Maspalomas. All my journey was just great. I had the best customer service I could ever wish, specially from the reception. Alex was just amazing , and did all the best and was so polite, I was sure that I would remember her name. The staff in the bar by the pool were just amazing and excellent! Could not forget the fun time by the pool, the Dj was doing bingos, games, super cool ! My only feedback would be have a renovation in the saunas, it needs an extra love.

Excellent hotel. Rooms are pretty decent, and are (on the whole) clean, and well maintained. You get air conditioning, a modest kitchen (with well stocked mini bar), and spacious! It's a nice place to relax. Good balcony. Top tip, pick street view if you prefer it quiet: if there is an event on in Maspalomas, pool or garden view is more likely to face the noise! That said, pool view is awesome if you want a great view 😜 Speaking of pool, it's a great area to sunbathe, meet new people, and have a drink. There's even a mini sauna if the gran Canaria sun still isn't hot enough for you! Bar staff could perhaps be a tad more attentive. Plenty of sunbeds. Service is good. Reception staff are friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff do a great job. Location is close enough to Yumbo Centre to make it convinient for days out shopping and dining, and nights out having fun. It's a solid choice and won't let you down.
