About Charlie’s

Charlie’s Phoenix, a staple in the Valley’s LGBTQ+ scene since 1984, continues to be a hub for nightlife and community gatherings. Located on Camelback Road, just west of Seventh Avenue, it’s got a welcoming atmosphere that’s evolved over the years. Originally a spot for urban cowboys and line dancing, it’s now known for its diverse mix of music, events, and crowd. The venue features an expanded dance floor, perfect for everything from country two-stepping to high-energy Latin nights. It’s also famous for its lively drag shows, like “High Heels & Halos,” and weekend after-hours parties that keep the energy going until 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. A taco truck parked out front satisfies late-night cravings, while the spacious outdoor patio—complete with two bars and bleacher seating—offers a more laid-back vibe. Charlie’s doesn’t shy away from variety; you’ll find karaoke sessions, bingo nights, and salsa lessons throughout the week. The bar attracts a wide range of patrons, from longtime locals to tourists exploring Phoenix’s queer nightlife. Open every day, it’s a go-to for both regulars and first-timers looking to experience a piece of Phoenix’s LGBTQ+ history.

Always a good time at Charlie's for The Brides Of March Event. Super friendly bartenders. Taco truck out back never disappoints.

Come to drink and dance, come to see a show, come for the tacos, mostly come for community...all under the disco boots. Fun for cowboys and cowgirls. And let me take a moment to mention the charlies show dancers, incredible!

If you’re looking for a gay bar in Phoenix with a fun, youthful country vibe, THIS is the place 🤠🏳️‍🌈 There are always tons of events going on, the music is great, and the overall atmosphere is just amazing. The drinks are delicious and very reasonably priced (huge plus 🔥). And the food… sooo goood the tacos and quesadillas are a must. The bartenders are super handsome and friendly, the drag shows are incredible, and the go-go dancers are so cool. The patio is spacious and well laid out—perfect for dancing, grabbing drinks, or just chatting with friends. Without a doubt, Sucia Sunday is my favorite—especially the banda nights 🇲🇽💃🏻. It gets so lit every time. Highly recommend if you want a fun, welcoming place to dance, drink, and have an unforgettable time

Went on Halloween had a great time where no one recognized me. The food is great and drinks, well, you will have a hard time finding a better drink elsewhere. I swear even the beer taste better. Maybe it's the incredible atmosphere. No wonder Charlie's is always #1. I will be there on Tuesday June 2nd to enjoy Dorothy lovers. I truly hope I meet my next adventurous boyfriend there. I do not dress like most people so I kinda stick out. If you want to meet me please come up and say hello, I won't bite unless you ask me too! (LOL). See you at Charlie's.

I loved Charley’s and used to go for Saturday drag and support their shows. But the last time i went i was assaulted by one of the drag queens. They shoved my head so hard i nearly fell over and I had no idea why they did what they did. I wasn’t in their way as there were so many others in the area and even if i was it shouldn’t prompt that level of violence. At the end of the day, I’m still a woman who got assaulted by a man. The bar is still a good time but i will not be attending the drag shows anymore
